In WoW: Forever, every Paladin learns Consecration at level 20; it is no longer a talent. It deals moderate Holy damage, but only to the first 4 enemies standing in it. Tanks get Seal of Fury, a Protection Seal that rewards fast weapons. Seal twisting is gone from the baseline kit and comes back only through Twist of Light, a 31-point Retribution talent.
Beta progress is temporary: beta gold is wiped on October 21. Launch gold has its own card. Launch gold (from November 4) · All Forever services
Quick facts: the Forever Paladin kit
| Consecration | Baseline at level 20 for every spec. Moderate damage to the first 4 enemies only. Spell power per tick was lowered in Blizzard's October 15 beta notes. |
| Holy Strike | Learned at level 6. An instant Holy weapon strike for 50% of weapon damage. |
| Judgement | No longer uses up your active Seal. |
| Seal of Fury | The Protection tanking Seal. It adds the same bonus Holy damage to every swing, so faster weapons do better. Each hit also gives an absorb shield worth 50% of that damage. Its Judgement taunts from 10 yards. |
| Twist of Light | Retribution 31-point gold medal talent. It lets you seal twist without a swing-timer addon and cuts Seal mana cost by 20%. |
| Righteous Fury | 90% bonus threat on Holy damage. The October 15 beta build raised it to 90% (it was 60%). |
| Lay on Hands | 20-minute cooldown (was 1 hour). |
| Still missing | No interrupt and no slow. |
Is Consecration still good for AoE tanking in Forever?
It still helps, but it can't hold a big pull alone. It only damages the first 4 enemies, and Blizzard lowered its spell power per tick on October 15. On a 4-mob pack it's a solid threat tool with Righteous Fury active. On anything bigger, you need crowd control, and Blizzard says CC and threat still matter in Forever dungeons. Protection's Seal of Fury and Judgement taunts do most of the single-target work.
How does Seal of Fury work?
Seal of Fury adds the same Holy damage to every swing, however slow or fast the weapon is. A fast one-hander therefore lands more procs, which means more damage, more threat and more absorbs. Each proc gives a shield worth half of its damage. Judging it taunts from 10 yards, while Growl and Taunt only reach 5 yards. Judgement no longer uses up the Seal, so you can keep Seal of Fury up and judge on cooldown. Since the October 15 build, a Priest's Power Word: Shield no longer replaces it.
What is Twist of Light, and can every Paladin seal twist?
No. In Forever, any Paladin who isn't deep Retribution can't seal twist. Twist of Light, the 31-point Retribution gold medal, brings it back without needing an addon to track your swing timer. It also makes Seals cost 20% less mana, which matters because Paladins burn a lot of mana on Seals. The other 31-point gold medal at that tier is Holy Shock, so you have to choose one.
Which spec should a Forever Paladin level as?
Every spec has Holy Strike from level 6 and Consecration from 20, so all three can quest. Retribution is building toward Twist of Light. Protection gets Seal of Fury talents such as Improved Seal of Fury and a redesigned Reckoning. Holy gets Divine Precision, which gives up to 18% hit with Holy spells, because plate healing gear won't have any hit on it. Dual specialization unlocks at level 40. All numbers are from the beta and may still change before launch on November 4.
If you'd rather spend the time on the fun parts, PewPewShop's vetted players offer coaching and progression help for the new class options, including Forsaken Paladin Leveling 1–60 from EUR 990. Before launch, our beta leveling starts from EUR 14.
