In WoW: Forever, resurrecting at a Spirit Healer now costs 25% durability on your gear instead of 50%, per Wowhead's report on the October 8 beta build. You still get Resurrection Sickness. This is a beta value, so it can change before launch on November 4. A corpse run is still the cheaper choice when you can get back to your body safely.

Quick facts: the Forever death penalty

Legacy perkReinforce: −6% durability loss per rank (seen in the BlizzCon demo build; cap unknown)

Blizzard hasn't published Forever's Resurrection Sickness duration or stat penalty. In Classic Era, the sickness gets longer and harsher as you level and lasts up to 10 minutes at higher levels. Treat that as the baseline you know, not a confirmed Forever number.

Should I take the Spirit Healer or run back to my corpse?

Run back if you can. A corpse run avoids both the extra durability hit and the sickness. Take the Spirit Healer when your body lies deep inside a hostile camp, in an elite area you can't clear again, or so far away that the walk costs more time than the sickness timer. The 25% hit on top of the normal death wear still adds up fast. Two Spirit Healer resurrections in one session can leave your gear close to broken.

Why did Blizzard cut it from 50% to 25%?

Blizzard didn't give a reason in the notes Wowhead reported. The change landed in the same build as other leveling adjustments, including about 20% more dungeon kill XP. The practical result is that a bad death costs less than it did on the earlier beta. Since this is beta tuning, check the patch notes again after launch.

Can the Legacy system reduce durability loss?

Yes. In the BlizzCon demo build, the Resourcefulness tree had a perk called Reinforce that reduced durability loss by 6% per rank. Legacy points are earned account-wide, and each character can spend up to 16 at launch. How many ranks Reinforce allows, and whether it changes the Spirit Healer cost specifically, hasn't been published. The same tree also has a perk called The Quick and the Dead, but Blizzard hasn't detailed what it does.

Does Hardcore use the Spirit Healer?

Hardcore arrives after launch as its own enclosed ruleset. Blizzard has only said that a dead Hardcore character can transfer to another ruleset. Full Hardcore rules aren't out, so treat anything beyond that as unknown.
