Quick facts: how Delve loot is decided
- Tier = item level. Higher tier, higher reward. Hover the tier in the difficulty selector and the tooltip states the ilvl you will get.
- End-of-delve chest. Every completion awards a piece scaled to that tier, plus gold and currency.
- Gilded Stash. Bountiful Delves carry an extra locked chest. No Restored Coffer Key, no Gilded Stash — the run still completes, you just skip the best reward.
- Keys are the real bottleneck. Coffer Key fragments come from world content and are capped by how much you farm each week, not by how many delves you run.
- Great Vault. Clearing Delves at the qualifying tier fills a dedicated Delve row in the weekly Vault. The Vault window tracks how many runs you still owe.
- Tier 11 sits at the top of the ladder as the highest-reward difficulty for solo-friendly players.
Where do I see the exact Midnight Delve item levels?
Walk to any delve entrance, open the difficulty selector, and hover each tier. The tooltip lists the reward item level for the end chest and, on Bountiful runs, for the Gilded Stash. That tooltip updates with every patch, which makes it more trustworthy than any table copied from a wiki three weeks ago.
Check it again after a patch day. Season rollovers and tuning passes move these numbers, and the difference between a stale table and the live tooltip is often several item levels per slot.
Do I need a Coffer Key for every Delve?
No. Only Bountiful Delves use one, and only to open the Gilded Stash. Regular Delves cost nothing and still hand out an end chest plus Vault progress.
Practically, keys decide your weekly gearing ceiling. Farm fragments first, then spend your keys on the highest tier you can clear comfortably — a key burned on a low tier is a wasted key.
Are higher tiers actually worth the extra time?
Yes, up to the point where you start wiping. A clean tier 8 run beats three failed attempts at tier 11, because your reward comes from what you finish, not what you attempt. Push a tier at a time, and step up once the previous one stops threatening you.
Do Delves feed the Great Vault?
They do, through their own row, separate from raids and dungeons. Run enough qualifying Delves in a week and you unlock additional Vault choices on reset — the fastest gearing route for players who do not raid.
