In Battleground Blitz, Eye of the Storm is an 8v8 rated match on the standard four-base map with one central flag, played to 1500 points with faster captures and shorter respawn timers than the regular battleground. Points tick in from every base you hold, and each flag capture adds a bonus that grows with the number of bases you control. Hold three bases, defend them, and only run the flag once the map is already yours.

How a Blitz Eye of the Storm match plays out

  1. Opening split. Both teams spawn on a ledge with two bases close by. Send a small group to each near base and cap them fast — in Blitz a base flips much sooner than in the regular map, so a lone defender who gets jumped loses it in seconds.
  2. Fight for the third base. With eight players a side, the match is decided at whichever far base is contested. The team that arrives with numbers and a healer usually takes it; the team that trickles in one at a time loses it repeatedly.
  3. Flag only when ahead. The flag sits mid-map and is the loudest trap on the map. Grabbing it with two bases while the enemy holds two is a wash; grabbing it with three bases is where it pays. Carry it to any base you own to score.
  4. Rotate, don't chase. Blitz points tick quickly. Five seconds spent chasing a kill away from a base is often a base lost. Call swaps as a team and respond to incoming calls immediately.

Is Blitz Eye of the Storm different from the normal version?

Same terrain, same four bases and flag, but the tuning is different. Blitz cuts the match to eight per side, shortens respawn timers, speeds up captures and lowers the score target, so the whole thing resolves in a fraction of the time. Comebacks are harder because points accumulate faster — a two-base deficit for a minute is already serious.

The other change is who you play with. Blitz is solo or duo queue with enforced roles, so you cannot bring a premade of eight. Reading the team quickly and calling clear rotations matters more than in a coordinated Rated Battleground.

How many bases should we hold in Blitz Eye of the Storm?

Three. Holding all four is rarely stable at 8v8 and stretches your healers thin; two bases without the flag is a slow loss. The standard target is your two near bases plus whichever far base your team wins the first fight at, with the flag as the finisher once that third base is safe.

If you are behind, do not spread across all four trying to claw them back. Group up, take one base decisively, then rotate as a pack to the next.

Does Eye of the Storm give Blitz rating?

Yes. Every Blitz map, Eye of the Storm included, plays into your Battleground Blitz rating, which is tracked separately from Rated Battlegrounds, 3v3 and Solo Shuffle. Wins raise it, losses lower it, and the seasonal PvP reward thresholds apply to that number. Because matches are short, Blitz is the quickest bracket to climb — and also the quickest to drop if you queue tilted.

What role wins Blitz Eye of the Storm most reliably?

Healers. With only two per team, a healer who anchors the contested base and keeps the group alive through the opening fight usually decides the map. For damage dealers, mobility and a reliable snare are worth more than raw throughput: catching a flag runner or peeling a base attacker wins more matches than topping the damage meter.
