The current Conquest cap in WoW is a cumulative weekly limit: it starts at a fixed amount in week one of the season and rises by the same increment at every reset, so falling behind never locks you out. Check the exact Midnight Season 2 number on the Conquest currency tooltip in-game; in recent seasons the pattern was 1,350 in week one plus 550 per week.
Conquest cap quick facts
- Type of cap: cumulative, not per-week. The limit is the season-to-date total you are allowed to have earned, so a player who skipped weeks can earn all of it in one push.
- When it grows: every weekly reset (Wednesday in EU, Tuesday in NA).
- Recent pattern: in The War Within the cap opened at 1,350 and climbed by 550 each week. Midnight Season 2 uses the same rising-cap system; confirm the live figure in-game rather than trusting an old guide.
- Where to read it: open your Currency tab, hover Conquest. The tooltip shows earned this season and the current maximum.
- Late season: the cap is typically removed part-way through a season, after which Conquest is uncapped until the season ends.
- Sources of Conquest: rated wins (Solo Shuffle, 2v2, 3v3, RBG, Blitz), the weekly PvP quests, and honor-tier conversion once you are behind.
How does the weekly Conquest cap work?
Think of it as a running total the game refuses to let you exceed. Week one you can bank the starting amount. Each reset adds the weekly increment on top. If you sit at the cap every week you gain exactly one increment per week; if you took a two-week break, your ceiling is now two increments higher than what you have, and you can farm the whole gap in a single evening.
This is why nobody is ever truly behind on Conquest gear. The system is built for catch-up, not punishment. The only thing you lose by missing weeks is time, since the gap has to be farmed at the normal per-win rate.
Does the Conquest cap ever go away?
Yes. Blizzard has lifted the cap in the back half of every recent season, usually a few weeks after the mid-season point. Once that happens, the currency tooltip stops showing a maximum and you can grind as much Conquest as you have hours for. Until then, hitting the cap each week is the single most efficient thing a PvP player can do, because every week at the cap is a full set of upgrades you did not have to chase later.
What is the fastest way to reach the cap each week?
Rated wins are the main engine. Solo Shuffle is the quickest queue for most players because you get six rounds per session and Conquest per round won. 2v2 and 3v3 pay more per win but need a partner and can have longer queues at odd hours. Do the weekly PvP quests first: they hand over a lump of Conquest for a modest number of games and cover a big slice of the weekly increment on their own.
If your rating is low, losses still slow you down since they pay nothing meaningful. Playing a comp you are comfortable on at a rating where you win more than half your games beats forcing a meta spec you have not practised.
Why does my cap look different from a guide I read?
Two reasons. The number rises every week, so any guide with a fixed figure was correct for one specific reset only. And the starting value and increment can change between seasons. The in-game tooltip is the only figure that is always right for today.
If you would rather not spend every reset grinding queues, PewPewShop has a Weekly Conquest Cap Carry for Midnight Season 2 from EUR 12.99 and a Conquest Points Farm for any amount up to 30,000 from EUR 7.5, both played by vetted human PvPers with a long zero-ban record. Coaching and play-together options are there too if you want to hit the cap yourself and just need a stronger partner.
