A full Honor PvP set costs roughly 10,000 Honor at base rank — that covers all armor slots, neck, two rings, two trinkets and a weapon. The Honor cap is 15,000, so you can hold enough for the entire set before you spend a point. Upgrading pieces afterwards costs extra Honor per rank, so a fully upgraded set needs a noticeably bigger budget than the base purchase.
Honor cost by slot
The PvP vendor has priced Honor gear in three tiers for the last two expansions, and the pattern has stayed stable season to season. Check the vendor in the current season hub for the exact figures, but expect these tiers or something very close:

- Honor cap: 15,000 — you never have to buy in chunks.
- Honor gear has a PvP item level that jumps up inside rated and unrated PvP, so a fresh set is competitive in battlegrounds the moment you equip it.
- Upgrade ranks are bought with Honor too; each rank is cheaper than the base item, but multiplied across 16 slots it adds up fast.
- Buy the big three (head, chest, legs) and the weapon first — they give the largest stat jump per Honor spent.
How long does it take to farm 10,000 Honor?
Plan for several evenings of battlegrounds if you queue casually, or a couple of long sessions if you chain random BGs and skirmishes back to back. Wins pay far more than losses, and the first win of the day in each queue type gives a bonus, so mixing Random Battleground, Epic Battleground and Arena Skirmish queues is faster than sitting in one.
Weekly PvP quests in the season hub are the other big injection — do them every reset while you gear.
Is the full Honor set enough for rated PvP?
It gets you in the door. Honor gear is the entry tier; Conquest gear sits above it and is what you see at 1800+ in Arena, Solo Shuffle and RBG. The standard route is: buy the full Honor set, upgrade the slots that matter most, then replace pieces one by one as Conquest comes in from the weekly cap.
Nobody in Honor gear should feel embarrassed in Solo Shuffle — matchmaking sorts by rating, and a full upgraded Honor set is exactly what your opponents at that bracket are wearing.
Does Honor gear reset every season?
The vendor swaps to a new Honor set each PvP season, and last season's gear stops being relevant once item levels move up. Your Honor balance carries over, though, so if you end a season near the 15,000 cap you can buy most of the new base set on day one.
What about the Elite transmog set — does it cost Honor?
No. The Elite appearance for a season is unlocked by rating, not currency: you need to reach 1800 in a rated bracket during that season, after which the Elite pieces become available. Honor only buys the standard look. If the Elite set is the real goal, the Honor farm is step one and the rating climb is step two.
