Hardcore is confirmed for World of Warcraft: Forever, but Blizzard has not published its rules. At BlizzCon 2026 the Classic team listed Hardcore among Forever's systems without saying whether it uses dedicated realms, keeps the one-life format of Classic Hardcore, or arrives with launch on November 4, 2026. Until an official post lands, treat everything beyond "it's coming" as unconfirmed.

Everything in that table except the Hardcore rows comes straight from Blizzard's BlizzCon 2026 reveal and roadmap. The Hardcore rows are the honest state of play: it was named, and that was it. Nobody outside Blizzard knows yet whether death means a permanent character loss, a transfer to a normal realm, or something the Classic team hasn't tried before.

What "Classic+ hardcore" would likely mean

Forever is what players have called Classic+ for years: a third WoW experience next to Modern and Classic, set in the game's first year, with new zones, dungeons and raids shipping as patches instead of expansions. A Hardcore mode layered on that means the danger curve is genuinely different from Classic Hardcore, because the world itself is different.

  • Three new zones: Zephras Isle (Skyborne start, 1–12), the Riverglades (30–45, Eastern Kingdoms) and Mount Hyjal (endgame).
  • Nine new dungeons, from Hall of Thanes (13–18) and Lordaeron (15–20) up to The Shaper's Terrace and Krol'Dok Stronghold (40–60). Boss lists and loot are not published, so nobody has a death-trap map yet.
  • Every class and spec is revamped — Paladins get a tanking seal, Forsaken Paladins and Dwarf Shamans exist, and the new Skyborne race can be Warrior, Hunter, Rogue or Druid on either faction.
  • Camping, a new system where players build campsites others can join for tradeskill buffs, could matter a lot to one-life play — but its details are also unknown.

In other words, even veterans who deathless-ran Classic Hardcore will be learning new pulls, new patrol paths and new class kits at the same time. That is the appeal for a lot of people searching "wow forever hardcore": a fresh, unsolved permadeath world rather than a memorised one.

Will there be dedicated WoW: Forever hardcore realms?

Unknown. Blizzard has not announced any realm names, realm types or regions for Forever at all, Hardcore included. Classic Hardcore ran on its own realms, so that is the closest precedent, but nothing says Forever will copy it. If you plan to reserve names during Early Name Reservation (October 27 – November 3, with any upgrade pack, up to three characters), keep in mind that the realm list itself hasn't been shown.

Can I play Hardcore in the Forever beta?

Nothing suggests it. The beta runs September 17 – October 21, 2026, is capped at level 30, and requires the Skyborne Epic Pack or the Warcraft Forever Collection. Blizzard has described it as a test of the new starting experience and early zones; a Hardcore ruleset has not been mentioned for the beta window.

What happens to Classic Hardcore realms when Forever launches?

Also unannounced. Blizzard has not said what becomes of Classic Era, Anniversary or Season of Discovery realms — or the Hardcore realms among them — once Forever is live. Nothing about characters or progress carrying between game versions has been stated either. If you have a live Hardcore character now, there is currently no reason to assume it goes anywhere.

Where should I watch for the actual Hardcore rules?

Blizzard's official WoW news posts and the Forever roadmap are the only sources that count. The roadmap already commits to raids unlocking December 9, 2026 (Barrow Deeps, Hyjal Summit and 40-player Onyxia's Lair together) and to new raids, dungeons and a PvP refresh in spring 2027, so system-level announcements are being staged over time. Hardcore rules could land in any of those beats. Anyone quoting death mechanics, realm names or a Hardcore date before then is guessing.

If you'd rather learn Forever's new dungeons with a vetted human player beside you before risking a one-life character, PewPewShop's coaching and play-together runs cover the new content from launch — a Forever Dungeon Run (Any Dungeon) starts from EUR 16 for The Drowned City or from EUR 12 for Lordaeron (15–20), and Forever Leveling 1–30 from EUR 13. No bots, no cheats, long zero-ban record.
