Unzip the Questie folder into your WoW Classic AddOns folder — usually World of Warcraft\classicera\Interface\AddOns (or classic\Interface\AddOns for Cataclysm/Mists Classic) — then restart the game and tick Questie in the AddOns button on the character select screen. The easy route is the CurseForge app or WowUp, which picks the right folder and keeps it updated for you.

Manual install, step by step

  1. Fully close World of Warcraft (not just log out).
  2. Download the current Questie release ZIP from CurseForge or its GitHub releases page.
  3. Open your WoW install folder. From the Battle.net launcher, use the gear icon next to Play → "Show in Explorer".
  4. Open the folder for your version: classicera for Classic Era, Season of Discovery and Hardcore; classic for the current progression Classic client.
  5. Go into Interface\AddOns. If AddOns does not exist, create it with that exact spelling.
  6. Extract the ZIP so you end up with Interface\AddOns\Questie\Questie.toc — one folder named Questie, not a folder inside a folder.
  7. Launch the game. On the character select screen click AddOns, make sure Questie is checked, and enable "Load out of date AddOns" if it's greyed out after a patch.

Why doesn't Questie show up in my AddOns list?

Nine times out of ten it's a nested folder. Open Interface\AddOns\Questie and confirm you can see the .toc and .lua files directly inside it. If instead you see another "Questie" or "Questie-master" folder, move the inner one up a level and delete the empty wrapper.

The other common cause is installing into the wrong client folder — Classic Era and progression Classic have separate AddOns directories, and dropping it in the wrong one means it simply won't load.

Questie is installed but no icons appear on the map

Type /questie to open the settings and check that the map and minimap icons are toggled on. Questie only draws quests your character can actually take, so a fresh 60 in a starting zone will look empty. Also make sure you're not filtering out low-level or completed quests in the icon options.

How do I update Questie?

Delete the old Questie folder entirely and drop in the new one — don't merge them, since leftover files from an old version cause errors. Better: let the CurseForge app or WowUp handle it. After any WoW patch you'll usually need to update Questie before it loads without the out-of-date warning.

Is Questie allowed by Blizzard?

Yes. Questie is a standard Lua interface addon using the API Blizzard exposes to addon authors. It reads quest data and draws it on your map — no automation, no third-party software touching the game client.

Once the addon is sorted, the grind is still the grind.
