Your level boost lives on the character select screen — log in, and a boost token appears as a rocket-style icon next to any eligible character, or as a "Boost Character" button under the character list. Click it, pick the character (or create a fresh one), confirm the free gear and bags, and the character finishes at the boost's level, parked in a starting hub.

Step by step

  1. Log into the game and stop at the character select screen. This is the only place a boost can be redeemed — it is not in the in-game shop menu, not in your mailbox, and not on the Battle.net launcher.
  2. Find the boost prompt. Depending on the client version it shows as a small rocket icon on the character portrait row, or a labelled button beneath the character list. If you own more than one boost, the count is shown there.
  3. Choose your target. Boost an existing alt, or create a brand-new character first and boost it immediately. Some races and classes (allied races, or anything under the boost's own level floor) are excluded — the icon simply won't appear on them.
  4. Pick a specialization. The game asks which spec you want, because it hands you a full set of gear tailored to it. You can respec later; the gear stays.
  5. Confirm. This step is permanent. The character logs out, the boost applies, and you log back in with new gear, bigger bags, some starting gold and a small set of catch-up abilities unlocked.
  6. Do the intro quest. Boosted characters land in a hub with a short questline that gets you into the current expansion's flow.

Where is my level boost if I don't see it?

Three usual causes. The boost is tied to a different Battle.net account or region than the one you're logged into. The character you're looking at isn't eligible — already at or above the boost level, or a class/race the boost excludes. Or the expansion that granted it hasn't been applied to your account yet, in which case the token isn't there to spend.

Log fully out and back in before assuming it's missing; the character select screen caches, and a fresh login usually makes the icon appear.

What should I do first after boosting?

Run the intro quest chain the boost drops you into — it unlocks the current zone hub and hands you a small amount of usable gear. After that, chase item level through world quests, weekly activities and normal dungeons rather than jumping straight into hard group content: boost gear is intentionally below current-season baseline, and most groups will check your item level before they check your intentions.

Also open your professions window. A boosted character has none, and the profession catch-up path is separate from levelling.

Are WoW level boosts ever on sale?

Blizzard discounts the in-game shop boost occasionally, usually around expansion launches and seasonal sale windows. There's no fixed schedule and no reliable way to predict it, so if you need the character now, waiting for a sale is a gamble. Boosts bundled with an expansion pre-purchase are effectively the cheapest route when one is on offer.

Is a boost enough to raid or push keys?

No — a boost gets you to the level floor, not to raid readiness. You still need gear, the campaign for your character's power systems, and a feel for the spec. Think of the boost as the start of catch-up, not the end of it.
