Keystone Hero is the 2500 Mythic+ score milestone, and in Midnight Season 2 it does not unlock an appearance of its own. The season's cosmetic rewards sit on the neighbouring tiers: the Keystone Conqueror title at 1500, the Breath of Blight mount at Keystone Master (2000) and the Breath of Ruin mount at Keystone Legend (3000). What Hero does give you is a higher Great Vault tier and better end-of-dungeon loot for the rest of the season.
Mythic+ reward ladder in Midnight Season 2
| Milestone | Score | Cosmetic reward |
| Keystone Explorer | 750 | Achievement only |
| Keystone Conqueror | 1500 | Season title |
| Keystone Master | 2000 | Breath of Blight (mount) |
| Keystone Hero | 2500 | No title, no mount — vault and loot tier |
| Keystone Legend | 3000 | Breath of Ruin (mount) |
| Keystone Myth | Top bracket | Season title |
- Score is account-wide progress per character: every dungeon in the season pool counts once, at its best timed or over-time result.
- The season mounts are seasonal: when Season 2 closes, Breath of Blight and Breath of Ruin stop being obtainable through score.
- Nothing on this ladder is a transmog set. The only rated-content armour appearance in the game is the Elite PvP set at 1800 arena or battleground rating — a separate system entirely.
Why does "Keystone Hero" show up in appearance searches at all?
Two reasons. First, in Dragonflight and The War Within the 2500 milestone carried an expansion-branded title ("Dragonflight Keystone Hero", "The War Within Keystone Hero"), so players remember it as a cosmetic tier. Midnight moved the cosmetic weight onto Master and Legend, and Blizzard's Season 2 reward list skips Hero entirely.
Second, "Keystone Hero: [Dungeon Name]" is also the name of the per-dungeon achievements that unlock permanent dungeon teleports. Those are earned by timing that specific dungeon at the teleport threshold — a +10 in recent seasons — and they are the closest thing to a "Hero appearance": a spell in your book, not an outfit.
Is Keystone Hero worth pushing for without a reward?
Yes, if you actually run keys. 2500 score sits right at the level where pug leaders start filtering applicants by rating, and the loot tier that comes with it matters more than any title: your weekly vault slots and the gear dropping at the end of each dungeon both step up. The score also tends to arrive naturally on the way to Legend, so most players who want Breath of Ruin pass through Hero anyway.
If your goal is purely collection, stop at 2000 for Breath of Blight, or commit to 3000 for Breath of Ruin. There is no cosmetic parked at 2500 to chase in isolation.
Keystone Hero vs Keystone Master — which is harder?
Hero is the harder of the two. Master at 2000 is reachable by timing the full dungeon pool at a mid-bracket level with decent gear and a stable group. Hero at 2500 needs higher keys timed across every dungeon, which means fewer forgiving pulls, tighter interrupt discipline and a group that does not brick keys on the last boss. The jump from 2500 to 3000 for Legend is steeper again: routes stop tolerating mistakes at all.
Do Mythic+ appearances carry over between seasons?
Anything you have already earned stays. Titles and mounts collected in earlier seasons remain on your account permanently; the per-dungeon teleport spells also stay once unlocked. What disappears is the ability to earn that season's specific rewards after it ends — score resets and the next season brings its own mount and title set.
