Keystone Master is moderate, not elite: it needs 2,000 Mythic+ rating in a single season, which in practice means timing every dungeon in the rotation at roughly +10. No mechanical wall stops a competent player — the real cost is time, a reliable group, and surviving a few weeks of bad pugs before the score adds up.
Keystone Master at a glance
- Requirement: 2,000 Mythic+ score in the current season. Nothing else — no gear check, no raid, no attunement.
- Scope: your score comes from every dungeon in the seasonal pool, so you need all of them, not your two favourites.
- Rough key level: in recent seasons, timing the whole pool at about +10 lands you right around the 2,000 mark. Push one or two higher and you buy yourself slack elsewhere.
- Seasonal: score resets when the season ends. The achievement stays on your account with that season's name attached, but you cannot go back for an old one.
- Reward: the achievement plus the season's Keystone Master mount, handed out after the season closes.
Why players find it hard
The difficulty is not the pull-by-pull execution. It is that a timed key needs five people to not make a run-ending mistake, and pug groups leave the moment the timer looks shaky. Most players who stall out are not bad at the game — they are stuck at 1,700-1,900 because half their runs die to a disband, a bad affix week, or a route nobody agreed on.
How long does Keystone Master take?
For someone who already knows the dungeons, it is usually a handful of evenings spread over two or three weeks — enough runs to time each dungeon once at the right level, plus repeats where the timer slipped.
If you are learning the routes and the affixes at the same time, plan on considerably more. Your first clean +10 in a dungeon is far harder than your fifth.
What key level do I actually need?
Score scales with key level, so there is no single answer — a couple of higher keys can carry a couple of lower ones. The clean mental model: get every dungeon in the pool timed at around +10 and you are at or very near 2,000. Untimed runs still give score, but much less, so leaning on depletes makes the goal noticeably longer.
Do I need to time every key?
Effectively yes, if you want the shortest path. Both the timed bonus and the fact that your best run per dungeon is what counts mean a timed +10 is worth far more than two failed ones. Chasing the timer beats grinding volume.
Is Keystone Master worth it?
If you like dungeons, yes — 2,000 rating is also the point where your gear, your routing and your group-finding all click into place, and the Great Vault starts paying properly. If you only want the mount and dread pugging, it can feel like a chore long before you get there.
Getting there without the pug lottery
Most of the grind is group quality, not skill. Running with the same four people, agreeing a route before the pull, and picking your affix weeks removes more wasted evenings than any dps increase will.
If you would rather have vetted human players handle the running or coach you through the last few hundred points, PewPewShop covers Mythic+ from EUR 11.99 per run, with a Mythic+ Rating (Score) Boost from EUR 45 for the full push to a target score. Real players, no bots or cheats — and if you just want the routes explained, coaching gets you there under your own hands.
