Keystone Hero: Black Rook Hold is the Mythic+ achievement for finishing Black Rook Hold within the timer at a high keystone level — Mythic +20 when the dungeon was part of the Dragonflight Season 2 pool, and +10 on the compressed key scale that later seasons use. The reward is a permanent teleport to the dungeon entrance in Val'sharah, and the achievement counts toward the seasonal Keystone Hero meta.
Quick facts
| Dungeon | Black Rook Hold, Val'sharah, Broken Isles (Legion dungeon) |
| Requirement | Timed completion at the season's Keystone Hero level (+20 in Dragonflight Season 2; +10 after the key squish) |
| Bosses | The Amalgam of Souls, Illysanna Ravencrest, Smashspite the Hateful, Lord Kur'talos Ravencrest |
| Reward | Teleport spell to the dungeon entrance, usable from anywhere, plus meta credit |
| Availability | Only while Black Rook Hold is in the active Mythic+ rotation |
| Depleted keys | Do not count — the run must be in time |
How to earn it
- Confirm Black Rook Hold is in the current season's dungeon pool. If it is not, the achievement cannot be earned until the dungeon rotates back in.
- Get a Black Rook Hold key at the required level (or push one up from a lower level through timed runs).
- Build a group that can handle the big trash pulls on the ramparts and the add phases on the last boss — rot damage and interrupts matter more here than raw burst.
- Finish the run inside the timer. The achievement pops on the final boss kill; the teleport is learned immediately.
Where the time goes in Black Rook Hold
- Amalgam of Souls: the soul echoes must be soaked or kited properly; a sloppy kill here usually means a wipe rather than a slow kill.
- Illysanna Ravencrest: her sweeping eye beam and the add waves between phases punish groups that stack badly. Cleave the adds, don't tunnel the boss.
- Smashspite the Hateful: his charge has to be taken by a player at range; the tank cannot solo this one. Losing a DPS to the charge is the classic timer-killer.
- Lord Kur'talos Ravencrest: the long fight with rune adds and Dantalionax's shadow phases. The stronger the key, the more this boss decides the timer.
- Trash: the rampart section has the densest packs. Route planning — which packs to pull together — is where good groups gain the most minutes.
Is Keystone Hero the same as Keystone Master?
No. Keystone Master is a season-wide rating target — 2000 Mythic+ score across all dungeons — and it rewards the seasonal mount. Keystone Hero is per dungeon: one timed run at the hero level for one specific dungeon, rewarding that dungeon's teleport. Doing all of the season's dungeons at hero level gives the meta version.
Many players get Keystone Master first and pick up individual Keystone Hero achievements afterwards as they push higher keys.
Can I still get Keystone Hero: Black Rook Hold if the dungeon is not in the current season?
Not while it is out of rotation. Keystone Hero achievements can only be completed while the dungeon is in the active Mythic+ pool. If you missed it during Dragonflight Season 2, the next chance is whenever Black Rook Hold rotates back in — and at that point the key level is whatever the current season's Keystone Hero standard is.
Where is the Black Rook Hold teleport useful?
The teleport drops you at the dungeon entrance in north-western Val'sharah. It saves a Dalaran-to-Broken-Isles trip every time the dungeon is a weekly key, and it doubles as a fast route into Val'sharah for older content, world quests and transmog farming in the zone.
What does the run look like on a timed high key?
A timed Black Rook Hold at hero level is about consistency rather than speed pulls. Groups usually plan two or three large rampart pulls, kill Smashspite cleanly by assigning the charge target in advance, and save cooldowns for Ravencrest's add phases. Losing a player on any of the middle bosses is normally the difference between timed and depleted.
If you would rather not hunt for a group for a single specific dungeon at hero level, PewPewShop's vetted human players can run it with you: a Mythic +10 timed run starts from EUR 19.98, a specific dungeon of your choice from EUR 20, and +11/+12 keys from EUR 43.98 — coaching-style, no bots, no cheats.
