Keystone Hero is the 2500 Mythic+ rating milestone, and in Season 2 the score mounts sit around it: 2000 rating (Keystone Master) awards Breath of Blight, 3000 (Keystone Legend) awards Breath of Ruin. Whichever tier your season attaches the mount to, you must hit the rating before the season closes, because seasonal rewards do not carry over.

Lower milestones (Explorer, Conqueror) exist below these and hand out smaller rewards. Blizzard has moved which tier carries the seasonal mount from one season to the next, so the achievement tooltip in your own client is the final authority for the season you are actually playing.

How to earn it, step by step

  1. Open Achievements, then Dungeons & Raids, then Mythic Keystone, and find the current season group. Your live rating is displayed there.
  2. Learn the season dungeon pool. Every dungeon contributes its own best run, so skipping one leaves a permanent hole in your total.
  3. Time keys, do not just finish them. A depleted run is worth a fraction of a timed one.
  4. Push key level. Score per run scales with the key, so the number climbs by replacing weak runs, not by grinding the same level over and over.
  5. Finish before the season ends. The rating resets and the seasonal reward closes with it.

How many keys do I actually need for 2000?

As a ballpark, timing the full dungeon pool around the +10 mark puts most players in the neighbourhood of 2000. Reaching 2500 and 3000 is not about more runs, it is about higher keys and cleaner ones. Per-run score values get retuned between seasons, so treat any fixed formula with suspicion and watch your in-game number instead.

Is there a Keystone Hero mount in Season 3?

Blizzard has shipped a fresh Mythic+ mount every season so far, so expecting one for Season 3 is reasonable. What I cannot confirm here is the Season 3 mount name or which rating tier will carry it, and guessing would be worse than useless when you are planning a push.

The structure almost certainly stays the same: named achievements at fixed rating thresholds, a mount attached to at least one of them, everything locked to the season. Check the achievement panel on launch week and plan from the real tooltip.

Can I still get the Season 2 mount after the season ends?

Historically, no. Score-based seasonal mounts are earned inside their own season, and once the rating resets the door shuts. If you are sitting a few hundred points short, the final weeks are the crunch, and that is when most people who miss it realise they left three dungeons untimed.

Does Mythic+ rating decay if I stop playing?

Your score does not tick down for inactivity. It only changes when a better run replaces a worse one, so a rating you earn in week four still stands in week twenty of the same season.
