Molten Core is World of Warcraft Classic's first 40-player raid. Its entrance is inside Blackrock Depths, in Blackrock Mountain, between Searing Gorge and Burning Steppes. It has 10 bosses, from Lucifron to Ragnaros, and drops Tier 1 gear. The attunement quest isn't needed to get in. It only lets Lothos Riftwaker teleport you to the entrance.

Bosses two through eight are flexible: most guilds clear them in whatever order their path through the cave allows. Majordomo Executus only appears once the bosses that guard the runes are dead and every rune has been doused. Beating him opens the way to Ragnaros.
How do you get MC attunement?
Speak to Lothos Riftwaker at the top of Blackrock Mountain to pick up "Attunement to the Core". He sends you into Blackrock Depths for a Core Fragment, which lies deep in the dungeon near the Molten Core entrance. Bring it back and from then on Lothos can teleport you straight to the raid. That saves a long run through the dungeon every week. You can still walk in through Blackrock Depths without the attunement.
What are the runes and Aqual Quintessence?
Several bosses guard a fire rune. To summon Majordomo, your raid has to put out each rune with Aqual Quintessence. You get this item from Duke Hydraxis, who becomes available after you earn reputation and finish his quests with the Hydraxian Waterlords. Later quests give you a reusable version, so one or two players with it are enough for the raid.
What is the best loot in Molten Core?
The main draw for every class is the Tier 1 set pieces. Garr and Baron Geddon can drop a binding each for Thunderfury, Blessed Blade of the Windseeker. Ragnaros drops Tier 2 legs and the Eye of Sulfuras, which starts the Sulfuras, Hand of Ragnaros quest line. All of these drop rarely, so expect to farm them for weeks.
Do you need fire resistance for Ragnaros?
Your tanks and melee need some fire resistance for Ragnaros, and well-geared raids need less of it. Most of the raid can skip it for the earlier bosses. Magmadar's fear is handled with Fear Ward and tremor totems or by repositioning, not with resistance gear.
Can you solo Molten Core on retail?
Yes. On retail it is a legacy raid, and a max-level character can clear it alone for transmog and the old loot. Classic versions still need a full, coordinated group.
