Midnight's Early Access has already ended — it ran as a three-day head start for Epic Edition owners before the standard launch, and the game has since moved into Season 2 content. Buy any edition today and you log in immediately, with no waiting period. The unlock happened at one global moment, not at local midnight in each region.
Midnight Early Access: the quick facts
| Head start length | Three days ahead of the standard launch — the same window Blizzard used for The War Within |
| Who got in | Epic Edition buyers only. Base and Heroic editions started on standard launch day |
| How it unlocked | One synchronised worldwide moment. Oceanic, EU and Americas realms all flipped on the same second |
| The precedent | The War Within opened 22 August 2024 at 3 p.m. PDT — which was 11 p.m. in the UK and midnight in central Europe |
| Status right now | Early Access closed long ago. Season One raids are cleared content and Season 2 keystones are in full swing |
| What to check for exact times | The Battle.net launcher countdown and the official Midnight page — those carry the authoritative timestamp for your region |
Did Midnight Early Access literally start at midnight?
No — and this is exactly why the search gets muddled. "Midnight" is the expansion's name, not the launch hour. Blizzard opens expansions on Pacific time, mid-afternoon, so the same moment lands in the evening for UK players and around midnight for central Europe. That coincidence with The War Within is where the confusion started.
If you're in Australia or Asia, the unlock arrived on your morning of the following day. Nobody waited for their own local midnight.
Do I still need the Epic Edition now that Early Access is over?
Not for access. The head start was the Epic Edition's time-limited perk and it has expired, so a standard copy gets you into every zone, dungeon and raid that's currently live. The higher tiers still bundle cosmetics and convenience items, but you are no longer paying for a queue position.
What should I do first if I'm starting Midnight late?
Level to cap first — everything else is gated behind it. From there, the fastest route back to relevance is renown on the current faction tracks (that's where a lot of gear and unlocks sit), then delve events for catch-up loot, then Mythic+ once your item level clears the entry bar for the season.
Coming in months after launch is genuinely easier, not harder. Catch-up systems, cheaper crafted gear and a well-documented meta all work in your favour.
Will the next expansion have Early Access too?
Blizzard hasn't committed to it as a permanent feature, but two expansions in a row shipped with a three-day Epic Edition head start, so it's a reasonable bet. Watch the edition comparison chart on the announcement page — that's where the head start is spelled out before pre-orders open.
If you're catching up and would rather spend your evenings playing than grinding the backlog, PewPewShop's vetted human players can take the tedious part off your hands — fresh-race leveling starts from EUR 25, and a timed Mythic +10 run for Midnight Season One is from EUR 19.98, with coaching available if you'd rather learn the routes yourself. No bots, no cheats, and a long clean record.
