Delves never drop Hero ("heroic") track gear from the chest at the end of a run — Hero-track pieces come from the Delve row of your Great Vault. The Bountiful chest pays Veteran and Champion track loot depending on tier. Clear enough Bountiful Delves each week and the highest tiers push your Vault pick up to the Hero track.

Terminology trap that catches a lot of people: Delves have no Normal / Heroic / Mythic difficulties. They run on numbered tiers, and loot is labelled by upgrade track — Explorer, Adventurer, Veteran, Champion, Hero, Myth. So "heroic delve gear" almost always means Hero-track gear.

How delve gear actually works

  • End-of-delve chest: only Bountiful Delves have one, it needs a key (in The War Within, a Restored Coffer Key assembled from Coffer Key Shards), and it tops out around Champion track.
  • Great Vault Delve row: the only place delving hands you Hero-track loot, and only from the upper tiers.
  • Vault unlocks: 2 Bountiful Delves = 1 pick, 4 = 2 picks, 8 = 3 picks for that week.
  • The tier gates the track. Hover the tier selector at the delve entrance — the tooltip spells out the exact reward track and item level for the season you are playing. Blizzard retunes those numbers every patch, so trust the tooltip over any guide, including this one.
  • Brann is a gear stat. Your companion's level and role decide whether high tiers are survivable at all; low-level Brann is the usual reason a tier feels impossible.
  • Upgrades cost currency, not luck. Valorstones plus the season's crests move a piece up its track; the last Hero ranks want the higher crest tier, which mostly comes from Heroic raid and higher keys.

Fastest route to Hero-track loot

  1. Bank keys. Do the weekly and world sources that hand you delve key currency — no key, no Bountiful chest.
  2. Level Brann before pushing tiers. It is the cheapest power gain in the whole system.
  3. Find your ceiling: climb one tier at a time until a run stops being comfortable, then sit one below it.
  4. Run 8 Bountiful Delves at your highest comfortable tier before weekly reset to open all three Vault picks.
  5. Take the Vault pick on Tuesday/Wednesday reset, then spend Valorstones and crests upgrading it.

What tier do I need for Hero-track gear?

The highest tiers of the current season, and only through the Vault. The exact number has moved with every patch since Delves launched, so read the tier tooltip in-game rather than trusting a number from an old season's guide.

Can I get Hero-track gear straight out of the delve chest?

No. The chest at the end of a Bountiful Delve is capped below Hero track — Champion is the realistic ceiling there. Everything above that arrives via the Great Vault.

Is delve gear enough for Heroic raid or Mythic+?

It is an excellent starting set. Delves get a fresh or returning character to a Champion-level kit solo, at your own pace, which is roughly where Heroic raid and mid keys stop feeling punishing. Past that point, raid and keystone loot outpaces delves — delves become your weekly Vault filler rather than your main source.

Why did my Vault give me a worse item than the delve I ran?

The Vault Delve row keys off the highest tier you completed that week, and the reward is rolled from that tier's table. If your best run was a lower tier, or you never opened a Bountiful chest, the row reflects that instead of the runs you cleared casually.

If you would rather not spend three weeks climbing tiers to reach raid-ready item level, PewPewShop's vetted human players do coaching and play-together progression runs — no bots, no cheats, and the natural next step once your delve gear plateaus is a Heroic Raid Full Clear from EUR 55. It is a shortcut for the grind, not a replacement for learning your class.
