In World of Warcraft: Forever, earning PvP ranks is one of the six Legacy Challenge categories: each completed rank challenge awards one account-wide Legacy point, and For Great Honor is a Legacy perk in the Resourcefulness tree that grants +2% Honor per rank. Forever also reworks the Classic honor system, but Blizzard has not published the new rank thresholds, decay rules or point caps yet.

Quick facts: honor, ranks and Legacy in Forever

  • For Great Honor: Resourcefulness perk, +2% Honor gained per rank purchased. Maximum rank count is not confirmed.

How do WoW: Forever PvP ranks differ from Classic ranks?

Blizzard confirmed the honor system in Forever is not a copy of the 2019 Classic version, but it has only said that it changed, not how. The original ladder ran from Private to Grand Marshal for Alliance and Scout to High Warlord for Horde, with weekly standing calculations. Whether Forever keeps those titles, keeps weekly decay, or uses a different progression is unknown until the beta (September 17 to October 21) or a blue post spells it out.

What is new is the Legacy hook: rank milestones now count as challenges that permanently benefit every character on your account, so grinding a rank has value beyond the title and gear on one character.

What does the For Great Honor perk actually do?

For Great Honor is a passive account-wide multiplier: each rank you buy with Legacy points adds 2% to the Honor you earn. It is a quality-of-life perk, not a combat bonus, which is why it lives in the Resourcefulness category alongside Diplomat and Reinforce. It applies to whichever alt you happen to be playing.

Because Legacy points come from any of the six challenge categories, you do not have to earn PvP ranks to unlock For Great Honor. A player who completes exploration or dungeon challenges can spend those points on faster Honor before stepping into a battleground.

Is the Classic Plus honor system a weekly grind again?

Unknown. Classic Plus is the community name for Forever, and the only official line is that the honor system was reworked. The demo at BlizzCon showed the Legacy tree but did not show rank requirements, weekly brackets or decay. Treat any specific numbers you see online before launch as speculation unless they come from Blizzard.

When does PvP start in WoW: Forever?

Forever launches November 4, 2026 at 3 p.m. Pacific, and battlegrounds are part of launch content. The level cap is a permanent 60, so rank progression starts as soon as characters reach the higher brackets. The first scheduled PvP season refresh is Spring 2027, per Blizzard's roadmap.
