How a run is ordered
- Pick the bracket — classic RBG or Battleground Blitz — and your target rating.
- State your current rating and item level; both change the final quote.
- Choose Self-Play, where you queue and play alongside the pro group as their tenth (or as a coached solo player in Blitz).
- Agree a schedule. Rated PvP is played in blocks, not single games — expect several evenings for a big jump.
- Play the games. You keep the rating, the Conquest, and the seasonal rewards it unlocks.
How much rating can you gain in one session?
A strong group with a healthy MMR can move a few hundred rating in an evening at low brackets, because early wins pay out large chunks. Progress slows sharply above 1800 and slows again near 2100, where every opponent is also a coordinated premade.
That is why quotes are ranged, not flat. Going 0 to 1400 is a different job from 1800 to 2100, even though both are "a few hundred rating".
Is RBG or Blitz better value?
Blitz. It is solo-queue, 8v8, and games are short, so a Blitz rating push (from EUR 25.04) usually costs less time and money than the equivalent RBG number (from EUR 30.04). Classic RBG still matters if you specifically want the 10v10 achievements and the premade-only titles.
Many players do both: Blitz for the fast Conquest and gear upgrades, RBG for the prestige rewards.
Will a carry hurt my MMR later?
Your matchmaking rating rises with your visible rating, so after a push you face tougher opponents. If you plan to keep queueing solo afterwards, ask for a target you can actually hold — landing at 1800 and staying there beats spiking to 2100 and bleeding it back in a week.
This is where coaching pays for itself. Learning the flag-carrier rotations, peel priorities and node-swap timings from the people winning those games means the rating sticks.
What about Arena and Mythic+ instead?
If you want a rating number for gear rather than RBG specifically, arena is often cheaper: 2v2 Arena Rating starts from EUR 20.03 and 3v3 from EUR 25.04. Mythic+ Rating (Score) Boost starts from EUR 45 for PvE progression.
