The Battleground Blitz ladder is the solo-queue rated 8v8 battleground ranking, tracked per specialization and published on Blizzard's official PvP leaderboards. You queue alone, get a placement rating after your first games, then climb the standard PvP tiers — Combatant, Challenger, Rival, Duelist, Elite — with seasonal titles and rewards locked behind rating and end-of-season cutoffs.
Blitz ladder quick facts
- Format: 8v8 rated battlegrounds, solo queue only — no premade groups.
- Rating: stored per specialization, so switching specs means a separate ladder position.
- Separate bracket: Blitz rating is its own ladder, not shared with 10v10 Rated Battlegrounds or arena.
- Maps: a rotating pool of objective battlegrounds — flag maps like Warsong Gulch and Twin Peaks, node and orb maps like Deepwind Gorge, Silvershard Mines and Temple of Kotmogu.
- Currency: games pay Conquest, and your rating gates the upgrade level of the gear you buy with it.
Blitz rank thresholds
| Rank | Rating |
| Unranked | Below 1000 |
| Combatant I / II | 1000 / 1200 |
| Challenger I / II | 1400 / 1600 |
| Rival I / II | 1800 / 2000 |
| Duelist | 2100 |
| Elite | 2400 |
Those tiers are fixed rating gates. The prestige titles at the very top are different: they go to a small percentage of the ladder, and the exact rating that percentage lands on is only confirmed when the season closes. Chasing a title means watching the live cutoff, not a fixed number.
Where do I check the Battleground Blitz ladder?
Blizzard publishes a Battleground Blitz leaderboard on the official WoW site alongside 2v2, 3v3, Solo Shuffle and Rated Battlegrounds, filtered by region, faction, class and spec. Your own standing shows in the in-game PvP panel, which lists current rating, season best and your progress toward the next rank.
Third-party trackers pull the same API data and are handy for watching title cutoffs move day to day, but the Armory list is the source of truth.
How does Blitz rating actually move?
Rating swings are driven by matchmaking rating, not by your personal scoreboard. If your MMR sits above your visible rating — common early in a season or after placements — wins pay out large and losses cost little, so climbing is fast. Once the two converge, gains shrink to single digits and progress slows hard.
Because it is an objective mode, kills matter less than the flag, cart or orb. Players who consistently gain are usually the ones playing the win condition, not the ones topping damage.
Is Blitz rating the same as RBG rating?
No. Battleground Blitz and 10v10 Rated Battlegrounds are two separate ladders with separate ratings and separate rewards. Achievements and gear upgrades often accept the highest rating you hold across brackets, but the ladder positions themselves never merge.
What is the fastest way to climb?
Pick one spec and stay on it — spreading games across three specs means three unfinished ladders. Learn two or three maps properly instead of all of them. And play in longer sessions when your MMR is still ahead of your rating, since that window is where most of a season's climb happens.
