Honor Hold (Alliance) and Thrallmar (Horde) are the Hellfire Peninsula factions. You start at Neutral and earn reputation by doing Hellfire Peninsula quests, then by running the three Hellfire Citadel dungeons. Normal Ramparts and Blood Furnace stop giving reputation at Honored. Only Shattered Halls and the Heroic versions of all three take you to Exalted.

The fastest route to Exalted
- Do every Hellfire Peninsula quest for your faction. This is the cheapest reputation you will get, and most characters reach Friendly or Honored here while levelling.
- Run Hellfire Ramparts and The Blood Furnace on Normal until you hit Honored. After that these two give no more reputation on Normal.
- Move to The Shattered Halls on Normal. It keeps giving reputation all the way to Exalted and is the best source at max level.
- At Revered, buy the Heroic key and add Heroic runs of all three wings. They give reputation to Exalted and drop better loot.
Why did my reputation stop in Ramparts or Blood Furnace?
Normal Hellfire Ramparts and The Blood Furnace are capped at Honored. Kills still count for experience and loot, but the reputation bar won't move. From that point, Shattered Halls and Heroic runs are what get you to Exalted.
What changed for this rep in TBC Anniversary?
According to Blizzard's development notes for the Anniversary realms, Heroic dungeon keys bought at Revered are now Bind-on-Account items. That means you can grind Honor Hold or Thrallmar to Revered once, and your alts can use the key too. For many players that alone makes this reputation worth finishing on the main character first.
Is Honor Hold or Thrallmar rep worth farming now?
Phase 3 is live, with Black Temple and Mount Hyjal, so most players don't need the rewards for raiding. The main reason to farm it is the Heroic Hellfire Citadel key, which is now account-bound. After that, it's for collectors and players who want everything at Exalted. Shattered Halls also drops useful gear for fresh 70s catching up, so the grind isn't wasted time.
Do Alliance and Horde get the same rewards?
Mostly, yes. Both factions follow the same path from Neutral to Exalted, and each offers a Heroic key, gear and recipes. The vendors are in different places: Honor Hold is the Alliance town in the west of Hellfire Peninsula, and Thrallmar is the Horde base in the north.
