Karazhan is the cursed tower of Medivh, the Last Guardian, located in Deadwind Pass in World of Warcraft. It debuted in The Burning Crusade as a 10-player raid and later returned in Legion as a 5-player Mythic dungeon, "Return to Karazhan." The old attunement quest chain is gone, so any max-level character can ride straight up to the front gate and walk in.

Where is Karazhan and how do I get there?
Head to Deadwind Pass, the dark strip of land south of Duskwood. The tower is impossible to miss — it's the massive spire dominating the zone. Fly or ride to the base, and the raid and dungeon entrances sit at ground level. From Stormwind, travel south through Duskwood into Deadwind Pass; Horde players usually route in from the Swamp of Sorrows side.
Is Karazhan a raid or a dungeon?
Both, depending on the version. The classic Burning Crusade Karazhan is a 10-player raid packed with roughly a dozen encounters, including the fan-favorite Opera and Chess events. Legion's Return to Karazhan reuses the same iconic tower but reworks it into a 5-player Mythic dungeon with its own loot and a tougher "Mythic Mode" split into two wings.
Can I solo Karazhan now?
Yes. A character near current max level can solo the old Burning Crusade raid easily for transmog gear, the Fiery Warhorse's Reins mount (a rare drop from Attumen), and old reputation. Return to Karazhan is more demanding — it's still tuned as a Mythic dungeon, so soloing it takes a strong, well-geared character and patience, especially through the later bosses.
What's worth farming in Karazhan?
Collectors run the old raid for transmog sets, the Fiery Warhorse's Reins, and the Violet Hold-style nostalgia. Return to Karazhan drops the Smoldering Ember Wyrm mount from the final boss on Mythic difficulty, making it a popular repeat target for mount hunters. Both versions are quick once you know the routes.
