In WoW: Forever, each tradeskill awards a Legacy Point the first time it reaches skill 150, 225 and 300 — three points per profession, account-wide. They come from the "Increasing Tradeskills" Legacy Challenge category and feed the same pool as leveling, exploring, PvP ranks, reputation and dungeon challenges, up to 65 total points at launch.

Profession Legacy milestones at a glance

Skill milestoneLegacy PointsNotes
1501Awarded the first time any single tradeskill crosses 150
2251Same skill line, next threshold
3001Classic-style max skill; third and final point for that skill
  • "First time" means once per tradeskill per account. A second alt taking Mining to 300 does not pay out again.
  • Points are shared across all your characters, but each character spends them separately. At launch a character can allocate up to 16 points, while the account can earn up to 65.
  • Whether secondary skills (Cooking, First Aid, Fishing) count as tradeskills for these milestones has not been spelled out by Blizzard — treat it as unconfirmed.
  • Points beyond what you spend still count toward the Legacy Reward Track: 15 points for the Replica Ironforge Air Rifle, 25 for the Spectral Bear Cub, 40 for the Spectral Bear Tabard, 55 for the Reins of the Spectral Bear, claimed from Innkeeper Wiley in Ratchet.
  • Legacy progress is account-wide across the Normal, PvP and Roleplaying rulesets. Hardcore is the exception: points earned there flow out, nothing flows in.

What can profession Legacy Points buy?

Points go into a talent-style tree with three branches: Professions, Adventure and Resourcefulness. The Professions branch is the one crafters care about. Perks shown so far include Working Overtime (+4% skill-up chance per rank, which directly shortens the grind to 150/225/300), Dedicated Study on a 23-hour cooldown, and Bountiful Harvest (more materials from Mining, Herbalism and Skinning).

Nothing in the tree is a combat advantage. Blizzard's stated goal is to make the second, third and fourth character faster and cheaper to build, not stronger. The full perk list and rank caps are not published yet.

Which profession is fastest to 300 for Legacy Points?

Gathering. Mining and Herbalism level as you quest and cost nothing but time, and both feed the Bountiful Harvest perk once you have points to spend. Skinning is even more passive if you are a hunter or warrior killing beasts all the way to 60 anyway. Two gathering skills on one character give six Legacy Points with no auction-house spend.

Crafting professions like Blacksmithing, Leatherworking and Tailoring reach the same milestones but eat materials — Forever adds 600+ recipes and a much larger bank (2–4× the original), so stockpiling is easier, but 225–300 is still where most people stall. Working Overtime is the perk to grab early if crafting is your route.

Do Legacy Points from professions carry over from Classic or the beta?

Nothing carries in from Classic Era, Anniversary, Season of Discovery or Modern — Forever is a separate experience. Beta progress (September 17 – October 21, capped at level 20 rising to 30) is a test environment; Blizzard has not announced any beta-to-live carry-over, so plan on starting at zero on November 4.

Should I level professions early or wait until 60?

Early, on your first character. A level 3–4 quest in every starting zone hands out a Herbalism, Mining or Skinning manual, and the first campfire objects unlock at skill 20, so gathering pays off from the first hour. Hitting 150 mid-leveling means one Legacy Point banked before you reach the Riverglades, and Well Rested or Reinforce ranks bought with it make the rest of 1–60 smoother.

Crafters can wait: dungeon bosses drop the Blueprint recipes for advanced campsite objects (Alchemy Lab, Tanning Rack), and those matter most in the 40–60 bracket.

If you would rather have a vetted human player push a tradeskill through the 225–300 wall while you raid or level, PewPewShop runs Forever profession help as pre-orders until launch: Profession Leveling 1–300 from EUR 29, the Gathering Pair (Herbalism + Mining) 1–300 from EUR 79, and Materials Farm from EUR 9 per hour. Play-together and rent-a-pro formats only — no bots, no shortcuts that put your account at risk.
