Mage is a playable class in World of Warcraft: Forever, and the new Skyborne race can roll one — but only on the Alliance side, as a High Order Skyborne. Blizzard says every class and specialization is being revamped, with talents moving away from +1–2% fillers, but specific Mage spell and talent changes have not been published as of September 13, 2026.
Forever Mage: what is confirmed
- Level cap 60, permanently. Forever is the Classic team's third WoW experience next to Modern and Classic; new content arrives in patches, never expansions, and there is no level scaling.
- Skyborne Mage = Alliance only. Skyborne are not neutral. High Order Skyborne (Alliance) can be Warrior, Hunter, Rogue, Druid or Mage. Windshaper Skyborne (Horde) get Shaman instead of Mage.
- Skyborne racials for a caster: Wind Blessed (+1% haste), Elemental Insight (+5% damage to Elementals), Walk on Air (glide downward for 10 seconds), and the Alliance-only Read Ley Line (+100% health and mana regeneration).
- Gnome Mage got a tune-up: Expansive Mind now raises maximum resource, and the new racial Eureka! makes the next three spells cheaper and 10% stronger.
- Talents from level 9 if you unlock the Talented perk in the account-wide Legacy tree — still a 51-point maximum.
- Dates per Blizzard's roadmap: beta September 17 – October 21 (capped at level 30), name reservation October 27 – November 3, launch November 4, 2026 at 3 p.m. Pacific. Forever is included with an active subscription; the Skyborne race needs the Skyborne Heroic Pack (€29.99 on the EU shop) or higher.
What are the Mage changes in WoW: Forever?
Blizzard's announcement covers the class revamp in broad strokes only: all classes and specs are reworked, and talent trees drop the boring one-and-two-percent filler nodes in favour of choices that change how you play. The only class with published detail so far is Paladin. No Mage spell list, no Frost/Fire/Arcane breakdown, no numbers.
So treat anything you read about a specific Forever Mage rotation, a reworked Arcane tree or new Fire cooldowns as speculation until Blizzard or beta datamining confirms it. The beta opening on September 17 is where real Mage information will start to surface.
Which races can be a Mage in Forever?
The original Classic Mage races return: Human and Gnome for the Alliance, Undead and Troll for the Horde. On top of that comes the High Order Skyborne Mage for the Alliance. The only other new race-class combinations announced are Forsaken Paladin and Dwarf Shaman — no new Horde Mage race was revealed, and Horde Skyborne cannot be Mages.
Worth knowing for the caster crowd: Tauren Cultivation now grows bonus herbs without Herbalism, and Orc Axe Specialization now grants critical chance — neither helps a Mage directly, but they show how deep the racial pass goes.
Is a Skyborne Mage worth it over Gnome or Human?
On paper the Skyborne kit is the most caster-friendly of the new options: passive haste, a regeneration racial that makes downtime between pulls shorter, and a glide that saves a lot of walking in Forever's no-flying world. The Elemental damage bonus also matters in a game where Elementals populate several leveling and endgame zones.
The honest trade-off is that we do not yet know how Gnome's Eureka! or the reworked Human racials compare in real numbers, and the Skyborne start on Zephras Isle only covers levels 1–12 before you join the standard Alliance path. Pick Skyborne if you want the new zone and the sky-themed aesthetic; wait for beta testing if raw throughput is your only concern.
Is Classic Plus Mage the same as WoW: Forever Mage?
Yes — Classic Plus is the community nickname; the official product is World of Warcraft: Forever, set in WoW's first year, after the Forsaken Kingdom campaign and before Molten Core in the story timeline. Endgame for a fresh 60 Mage at launch is the nine new dungeons, Mount Hyjal and the existing Classic dungeons; the Barrow Deeps 10-player and Hyjal Summit 20-player raids unlock December 9, 2026 alongside Onyxia's Lair. Whether Molten Core is open at launch has not been stated.
If you would rather have your Forever Mage at 60 while you learn the new dungeons, PewPewShop's vetted human players offer pre-order leveling help until launch — Skyborne Start: Zephras Isle 1–12 from EUR 15, Forever Leveling 1–30 from EUR 13, or a full WoW: Forever Power Leveling 1–60 from EUR 25 — plus Forever Dungeon Leveling from EUR 40 for players who want to level through the new instances with a group.
