The Master Hunter's Spellsword is a new quest reward added to Hemet Nesingwary's Stranglethorn Vale hunting chain in World of Warcraft: Forever, confirmed by Blizzard's Deep Dive panel recap on September 13, 2026. It is part of Forever's expanded quest itemization, sitting next to the chain's original rewards. Its stats, level requirement and the exact quest that hands it out have not been published yet.

What Blizzard has actually confirmed

  • Source: Nesingwary's Expedition quests in Stranglethorn Vale, Forever's version of the classic hunting chain.
  • Why it exists: Forever re-examined quest rewards across the leveling game. Blizzard named two examples — Mor'ladim in Duskwood now also gives the Ladimore Heirloom Ring for casters, and Nesingwary's chain adds the Master Hunter's Spellsword.
  • Naming pattern: The original chain's final reward was a choice of Master Hunter's Bow or Master Hunter's Rifle, both physical-class items. A "Spellsword" following that naming strongly suggests a caster option, but treat that as inference until Blizzard or the beta shows the tooltip.
  • Caster weapons in Forever: Blizzard says caster weapons now grant spell damage and healing, bonus healing includes a third as much bonus damage, and all hit chances are one stat. If the Spellsword is a caster weapon, expect it to follow those rules.
  • Not published: item level, stats, which quest step, whether it is a one-hander or two-hander, and whether the Bow and Rifle remain as alternatives.
  • When you can check: the beta runs September 17 – October 21, 2026, but beta play is capped at level 30, so the top of the Stranglethorn chain may be out of reach until launch on November 4, 2026.

How the Nesingwary chain works in Stranglethorn

The structure in the original game is well known, and Blizzard has not said it changes in Forever. Hemet Nesingwary's camp sits in the northern part of Stranglethorn Vale. His crew hands out tiered hunts for the zone's raptors, panthers and tigers, and each tier unlocks the next until the chain ends with the big trophy kills. Rewards land at the end of each animal's series and at the finale, which is where the Master Hunter's items have historically come from.

Forever keeps the classic level curve with no scaling, so plan on running the chain in the mid-30s to low 40s, right where the new Riverglades zone also sits. Doing both means less competition for spawns on busy days.

Is the Master Hunter's Spellsword for Hunters?

Probably not, despite the name. "Master Hunter" refers to Nesingwary's title for you, not the class. The original Master Hunter's Bow and Rifle were ranged weapons, and a Spellsword by name points at Mages, Warlocks, Priests, Druids and Shaman. Until stats are shown, the safe read is: Hunters keep their ranged pick, casters gain a reason to finish the chain.

What are the Stranglethorn quest rewards in Forever generally?

Blizzard says quest rewards were expanded zone-wide, hundreds of dungeon drops were added or moved to Rare quality, and unique dungeon boss items are now blue. For Stranglethorn specifically, only the Nesingwary Spellsword has been named. The Drowned City, a new troll-ruin dungeon off the Stranglethorn coast, is a second gearing stop for the same level band, though its loot table is unpublished.

Does the Nesingwary chain give reputation or Legacy points?

Unknown. Forever's Legacy Challenges cover Exploring, Leveling Classes, Increasing Tradeskills, Earning PvP Ranks, Maximizing Reputations and Completing Dungeons and Raids. A questing-based challenge could plausibly touch Stranglethorn, but Blizzard has not listed the full challenge set, so don't count on it.

Can I do the chain on the Hardcore ruleset?

Hardcore arrives after launch as an enclosed ruleset, and its rules beyond that were not published. The chain itself involves elite-ish trophy targets and dense jungle pulls, so on any ruleset it rewards patience and a partner or two.

If you would rather skip the jungle grind and land at 45 with the chain done, PewPewShop's vetted human players offer play-together and progression help for Forever, with Riverglades-band leveling from EUR 15 and full 1–60 from EUR 25, taken as pre-orders until November 4.
