The cheapest TBC Leatherworking route goes Light Armor Kit to 45, then Embossed Leather Gloves to 100, Fine Leather Belt, Dark Leather Cloak, Hillman's Shoulders, Heavy Armor Kit, Barbaric Shoulders, Thick Armor Kit and Nightscape gear to about 270. After that, push to 300 with Dragonscale Breastplate or the 280 leggings, then use Knothide Leather, Knothide Armor Kit and Draenic and Felscale pieces to reach 370.

Thick Leather takes 6 Heavy, and Rugged Leather takes 6 Thick. Late in each bracket the crafts turn green, and green gives skill-ups only some of the time. Bring a few extra materials for the last points.

TBC Leveling 1 → 70Any character leveled to the TBC cap of 70.from 25 EURGet it done

Why is 270-300 the expensive part?

From 270 you can't level on cheap armor kits anymore. Dragonscale Breastplate needs 40 Thick Leather and 30 Worn Dragonscale. The 280 leggings each need 10 Rugged Leather plus Breath of Wind, Worn Dragonscale with Heart of Fire, or Jet Black Feather with Wildvine. If you can get Ogre Tannin, Gordok Ogre Suit (4 Rugged Leather, 2 Bolt of Runecloth, 1 Ogre Tannin, 1 Rune Thread) also covers roughly 285-295. Choose whichever set of materials you already have or can farm.

Should I pair Leatherworking with Skinning?

Yes, this is the most common pairing. The route needs thousands of hides, from Light Leather in starter zones up to Knothide Leather Scraps in Outland. Skinning everything you kill while leveling covers most of it, and Knothide alone feeds the whole 300-345 stretch.

How do I level from 300 to 375 cheaply?

Stick to recipes that only need Knothide Leather and Rune Thread for as long as possible: Knothide Armor Kit, Thick Draenic Pants and Thick Draenic Vest. Only switch to Fel Scales and Primal Air or Earth from 345. Keep making Knothide Leather from scraps. It gives skill-ups until 310 and you need the leather anyway.

Can I use the Level 58 Boost and skip old-world leather?

The boost raises your character level, not your professions. You still have to pass the 1-300 brackets. You can buy Thick and Rugged Leather on the auction house instead of farming Azeroth zones.
