Forever beta mail is currently routed by first name only, so a letter addressed to "Ana Forever" can drop into the mailbox of your other character "Ana Stormblade". Per Wowhead's beta coverage, this hits auction house mail too. Nothing is gone — it is sitting on the wrong alt. Check every character you own, and trade face to face until it is patched.

The short version

  • What breaks: delivery matches the Main (first) name and ignores the Secondary name, so two characters who share a first name can swallow each other's mail.
  • Why it is new: Forever is realmless. Every character carries a two-part Full Name — Main plus Secondary — unique per region rather than per server, and the mail system has not caught up.
  • Also affected: auction house mail — sale proceeds and expired listings — plus loot left behind in a dungeon, which the Steamwheedle Lost and Found (goblin Rix Xizzix) posts to you.
  • Not affected: a normal face-to-face trade window. That is the safe way to move anything while the beta runs.
  • First thing to do: log in every character whose first name matches the intended recipient and open the mailbox there before assuming anything vanished.
  • Timeframe: the beta runs September 17 – October 21, 2026, and this is exactly the class of problem it exists to surface. File it with the in-game bug report tool so it lands in Blizzard's queue with your character names attached.

Why is mail going to the wrong character in the first place?

In Classic, your name plus your realm was the address. Forever dropped realms entirely — you pick a ruleset (Normal, PvP, Roleplaying, and Hardcore after launch) instead of a server, and names are region-wide. To make that work Blizzard split names in two: a Main Name and a mandatory Secondary Name, as confirmed in the BlizzCon coverage on September 12, 2026.

Mail on the beta appears to resolve only the first half of that address. Everyone who rolled a popular Main Name is effectively sharing an inbox with strangers and with their own alts. It is a routing gap, not something you configured wrong, and no naming trick on your end fixes it.

My Forever beta mail is not arriving — is it lost?

Probably not lost, just misdelivered. Work through your own characters first, starting with any alt that shares the first name. If a friend sent it, have them confirm the exact Full Name they typed and whether the letter shows as delivered on their end.

If it genuinely does not turn up anywhere, treat it as beta data. Beta characters and their contents do not carry over to the November 4, 2026 launch, so nothing you lose here follows you into the real game. That is the one comfort a test realm offers.

Does this hit auction house mail as well?

Yes — the auction house uses the same mail pipe, so gold from a sale and items from an expired listing can land on the wrong character too. Until it is fixed, treat the beta auction house as something you experiment with rather than something you bank on, and keep valuable test gear in your bags.

Dungeon loot returns the same way. The Steamwheedle Lost and Found mails you anything you left in an instance, which means that safety net is only as reliable as the mail system underneath it right now.

Will mail still be broken when Forever launches?

Unknown, and worth saying plainly rather than guessing. Blizzard has not published a fix date or a patch note for this one. What we do know is that launch is November 4, 2026 at 3 p.m. Pacific, and the beta window closes October 21 — a five-week gap that exists precisely so reported bugs like this get cleaned up before the doors open.

If you want beta time spent on content instead of chasing letters between alts, our vetted players handle the grind side: Forever Beta Leveling 1–20 (rising to 30 when the cap does) from EUR 13, and Hall of Thanes or Ruins of Lordaeron runs from EUR 12, with beta work starting within 24 hours. Real people playing alongside you, no bots — and coaching is there if you would rather learn the pulls yourself.
