One caution before you read too much into these numbers. Everything happened at level 30 or below, on beta builds that changed every week. Beta characters were wiped, so none of this progress carries into the November 4 launch.

Questions the beta numbers raise

How many characters were created in the WoW: Forever beta?

Beta testers created 8,862,354 characters over roughly five weeks. That count is characters, not players. Testers rerolled constantly to try the new race and class combinations, so it says nothing about how many people will log in at launch.

Blizzard did call it the largest beta it has ever run by player participation, in its interview with Inven Global. That fits a character count this high, but Blizzard has not published a player total.

What was the deadliest dungeon in the WoW: Forever beta?

The Hall of Thanes, the new level 13-18 dungeon beneath the Throne of Ironforge, killed more beta players than any other dungeon. The published stats name the dungeon but give no death total for it.

Blizzard did not say why, but the setup explains a lot. It was one of only two new dungeons open from week one, it is the first new dungeon most Alliance groups reach, and it is full of Dark Iron dwarves and restless spirits played by low-level characters who were still learning their reworked classes. Forever will probably ship without dungeon maps, which made wrong turns and extra pulls more likely.

How many PvP kills happened in the WoW: Forever beta?

The beta recorded 9,959,014 PvP kills and 1,248,125 duels. Hillsbrad Foothills had more PvP than any other zone. That matches its history: Horde Tarren Mill and Alliance Southshore sit a short ride apart, and the stairs up to Dalaran start north of Hillsbrad Fields.

The kill count also covers battlegrounds, which were shared across rulesets on the beta. Blizzard has said there is no low-level PvP protection on PvP rulesets, so expect Hillsbrad to stay a hotspot once levelers reach it on November 4.

How popular were the Skyborne and Forsaken Paladins?

The Skyborne were the headline race: 1,889,084 characters, about one in five of everything created. Beta access came mostly through the Skyborne Epic Pack and the Warcraft Forever Collection, and both include the race, which inflates that share.

The Forsaken Paladin, one of the new race and class combinations, reached 612,096 characters, about 7% of the total for a single combination. It is one of the six new official race and class combinations, and the numbers show the interest.

What was the deadliest creature in the beta?

The Kobold Miner, in Classic a low-level kobold from the mines of Elwynn Forest, killed more beta characters than any other creature. Blizzard gave no death total or reason; a starter-zone mob that many new characters meet early is the likely explanation.

Deaths from falling (1,157,204) came close to the number of duels fought. Skyborne gliding with Walk on Air and new terrain such as Zephras Isle and the Ruins of Lordaeron gave players plenty of places to misjudge a drop.

Can I see my own WoW: Forever beta stats?

Yes. Alongside the global numbers, Blizzard released a personal beta stats page that shows each tester's hours played, deaths and jumps, per Wowhead. Treat it as a keepsake: the beta is closed, and its characters will not return.

If you would rather have a vetted pro alongside you for those first dungeons or your early Honor ranks, PewPewShop takes launch orders now, with PvP help from 3 EUR. Everything starts on November 4 at 3:00 p.m. PST, in the order requests arrived.

Frequently asked questions

When did the WoW: Forever beta end?

The WoW: Forever beta closed on Friday, October 23, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. PDT. Blizzard had planned to end it on October 21, the day of the open Stress Test, but extended it by two days for an end-of-beta celebration. There is no beta access anymore, and beta characters do not carry over to launch.

Which dungeon killed the most players in the WoW: Forever beta?

The Hall of Thanes, a new level 13-18 dungeon beneath the Throne of Ironforge, was the deadliest dungeon of the beta according to Blizzard's statistics. It was open from the first week, it is the first new dungeon most Alliance characters reach, and many groups entered it while still learning reworked classes.

How many Skyborne characters were made in the WoW: Forever beta?

Testers created 1,889,084 Skyborne characters, roughly 21% of the 8,862,354 characters made during the beta. Part of that share comes from how beta access worked: the Skyborne Epic Pack and Warcraft Forever Collection both granted beta access and unlocked the Skyborne race.

Do WoW: Forever beta characters transfer to launch?

No. Beta characters, names and progress were wiped. To start early you needed Early Name Reservation, which runs October 27 to November 3, 2026 for owners of the Skyborne Heroic Pack or higher, with up to three characters across all rulesets. Everyone else creates characters at launch on November 4.

Where was the most world PvP in the WoW: Forever beta?

Hillsbrad Foothills saw more PvP than any other zone in the beta. Horde Tarren Mill and Alliance Southshore are close together, the stairs up to Dalaran start in the zone, and its level range matched the beta's level 30 cap, so both factions spent a lot of time in the same small area.

Will WoW: Forever launch balance match the beta?

Not reliably. Blizzard changed classes, talents and racials throughout the beta, published a racial tuning pass for launch on October 26 and added more changes on October 27. Further class hotfixes appeared on live Forever servers during name reservation, so beta results such as tournament win rates should not be read as launch balance.
