In WoW: Forever, you can earn up to 65 Legacy Points on your account at launch, but each character can spend only 16 of them. Points come from completing Legacy Challenges and are shared across every alt; each character puts their own 16 into the perk trees independently. Everything you earn beyond what you can spend feeds the cosmetic Legacy Reward Track, so the extra 49 are never wasted.
Legacy Points at a glance
| Earnable cap (per account, at launch) | 65 Legacy Points |
| Spendable cap (per character, at launch) | 16 Legacy Points |
| How you earn them | One point per completed Legacy Challenge |
| Challenge categories | Exploring, Leveling Classes, Increasing Tradeskills, Earning PvP Ranks, Maximizing Reputations, Completing Dungeons and Raids |
| Where you spend them | Three trees: Professions, Adventure, Resourcefulness |
| Shared with alts? | Yes — the pool is account-wide, but each character allocates separately |
| Points past the spend cap | Feed the Legacy Reward Track (cosmetics, prestige, no combat edge) |
| Hardcore ruleset | Progress flows out of Hardcore into other rulesets, never in |
The 16/65 split is deliberate. Blizzard built Legacy as a reward for playing more characters, not as a power ladder: the perks are non-combat quality-of-life boosts, and the surplus points exist so a completionist still has something to chase after their characters are maxed out.

- Professions tree — Bountiful Harvest (extra materials from mining, herbalism and skinning), Working Overtime (+4% skill-up chance per rank), Dedicated Study (a 23-hour cooldown skill-up).
- Adventure tree — Well Rested (+4% rested XP per rank and a higher rested cap), Talented (talent points start at level 9, still capped at 51 total).
- Resourcefulness tree — Reinforce (−6% durability loss per rank), Diplomat (+2% reputation per rank), For Great Honor (+2% Honor per rank), and Reagent Economy deep in the tree, which removes reagent costs from class abilities.
These numbers were shown at the BlizzCon 2026 demo and may shift before November 4. The full challenge list and the exact rank counts of each perk have not been published.
Are Legacy Points shared across alts?
Yes. The pool of earned points is account-wide, so a challenge finished on your Warrior counts for your Mage too. What is not shared is the allocation: each character spends their own 16 from that pool, and one character's choices do not lock the others. A leveling alt can go all-in on Well Rested while your main sits in Professions.
The one exception is Hardcore. It is an enclosed ruleset, so Legacy progress earned in Hardcore does flow out to Normal, PvP and Roleplaying characters, but nothing flows into Hardcore from outside.
What happens to the extra 49 points?
Every point earned above your spending needs goes into the Legacy Reward Track, which unlocks cosmetic and prestige items by total points collected. Rewards seen so far include the Replica Ironforge Air Rifle, the Spectral Bear Cub pet, a Spectral Bear tabard and the Reins of the Spectral Bear mount. None of them affect combat, so a player with 16 points is not weaker than one with 65.
Will the 16 and 65 caps go up after launch?
Blizzard has described both numbers as launch caps and its roadmap lists "professions and Legacy updates" for Summer 2027, so growth is likely but not confirmed. Treat 16 spendable and 65 earnable as the rules until Blizzard publishes new figures; nothing higher has been announced.
How fast can you rack up Legacy Points?
Since one point equals one challenge, the quickest wins come from things you would do anyway: hitting level milestones on a new class, maxing a tradeskill, reaching an exalted reputation, or clearing dungeons. The challenges span six categories, so spreading play across professions, PvP and alts fills the bar faster than grinding a single lane. Exact challenge thresholds are still unknown.
Chasing all 65 means a lot of alt leveling and profession grinding on top of your main. If you would rather have a vetted human player handle part of that, PewPewShop offers Forever leveling from EUR 13 (1–30) or the Launch-Ready Pack (1–60, pre-raid gear and 500g) from EUR 219, plus reputation hours from EUR 16 — pre-orders open until November 4.
