Blizzard has confirmed that World of Warcraft: Forever ships with a new legendary, and a new legendary questline is on the roadmap for Spring 2027. What the item is, which class it suits, and how you earn it have not been published. Everything beyond that — stats, source, quest steps — is still unknown as of September 2026.
What is actually confirmed
- A new legendary is listed among Forever's launch systems, next to updated professions, a changed Honor system, riding-skill updates and gamepad support.
- A new legendary questline is a named item on the Spring 2027 patch, alongside two new raids (10- and 20-player), two dungeons, new quests, a new playable area and a PvP season refresh.
- Launch date: November 4, 2026, 3:00 p.m. PST, included with any active WoW subscription or Game Time.

Blizzard has not published boss lists or loot tables for any of the nine new dungeons or the two new raids, so any article naming the legendary, its stats or its drop source is guessing. Treat that content with suspicion until Blizzard or the beta says otherwise.
Is the new legendary available on launch day?
The launch systems list says "a new legendary," but the questline is scheduled for Spring 2027. The most careful reading: the legendary exists as a system from day one, and the full questline that leads to it (or to a second one) arrives with the Spring patch. Blizzard has not clarified which reading is correct, and raids do not open until December 9 in any case.
If you want to be first in line, the realistic plan is to hit 60 and be raid-ready by December 9, then collect whatever the questline demands when it goes live.
Do the original Classic legendaries come back in Forever?
Nobody knows yet. In original Classic, Thunderfury and Sulfuras came out of Molten Core-era content, and Blizzard has not said whether Molten Core, Blackwing Lair or the other original raids exist at Forever's launch. The confirmed December raids are Barrow Deeps, Hyjal Summit and Onyxia's Lair. A "revamped iconic raid" is on the Summer 2027 roadmap, which may or may not be one of those.
What does "Classic+" mean for legendaries?
Forever is a third WoW experience next to Modern and Classic, built by the Classic team and set in WoW's first year. It grows through patches, not expansions, and the cap never leaves 60. That changes what a legendary is for: instead of being replaced by the next expansion's greens, a Forever legendary can stay relevant for years. Every class and spec is being revamped, and Blizzard has said talents move away from +1–2% filler, so the item will be balanced against a very different toolkit than 2004's.
How should I prepare before the questline drops?
- Reserve a name October 27 – November 3 if you own an upgrade pack (up to three characters, first come first served).
- Level to 60 from November 4 — boosters quote two to three weeks for a full 1–60 at launch pace.
- Get raid-capable by December 9 for Barrow Deeps, Hyjal Summit and Onyxia.
- Build gold and profession skill through the winter; legendary questlines historically demand both.
