The WoW: Forever Server Slam is a short window, later in the beta, when Blizzard opens the test servers to everyone for several hours — no Skyborne Epic Pack, no Warcraft Forever Collection, no invite wave needed. Blizzard confirmed it on September 17, 2026, but the date, length and level cap are still pending. The regular beta runs September 17 – October 21, and the Slam sits somewhere inside that window.

GPU requirementRGBA16F UAV support in compute shaders: AMD GCN 1 (2012), NVIDIA Maxwell (2014), Intel Skylake (2015) or newer. A Radeon HD 7850, GTX 750 Ti, any GTX 9xx or Intel HD 530 can launch it; a Radeon HD 6950, GTX 760–780, GTX 8xxM or Intel HD 6000 cannot

Practical tip: install the beta client now, even without access. Blizzard's Slam windows historically run only a few hours, and a fresh download plus the login queue can eat most of that. The client shows up in the Battle.net app regardless of whether your account is flagged.

How do I get into the WoW Forever beta without buying a pack?

Two routes. First, opt in through your Battle.net beta settings — Blizzard is sending invitation waves throughout the beta, and opt-in accounts are the pool those invites are drawn from. Second, wait for the Server Slam, which drops the invite requirement entirely for its duration.

Instant, guaranteed access is only bundled with the Skyborne Epic Pack and the Warcraft Forever Collection. The cheaper Skyborne Heroic Pack (€29.99 on the EU shop) does not include beta access — it gives the Skyborne race, Zephras Isle start, name reservation, the Cerulean Prideclaw mount and one invite code, but no test-server flag.

Is the Server Slam the same as a stress test?

In practice, yes. Blizzard's own description — servers open to everyone for several hours — is the classic shape of a stress test: the point is to throw the largest possible crowd at the login, zoning and instance systems before November 4. Forever is realmless, so instead of picking a server you pick a ruleset (Normal, PvP, Roleplaying; Hardcore arrives after launch), and the Slam will be the first time those ruleset ecosystems face real launch-day numbers.

Expect queues, disconnects and a possible hard stop at the end of the window. That is the deal you sign up for; the payoff is a free look at the new starting zone and the first two new dungeons.

What can I actually play in the beta right now?

Week 1 content is the Skyborne race and Zephras Isle (the 1–12 floating-island start), Hall of Thanes beneath Ironforge (13–18), Ruins of Lordaeron (15–20) and every zone up to level 20. More zones, more dungeons and the Darkspear Islands battleground open in later stages, and the cap climbs to 30. Whatever stage the Slam lands in is what Slam players will see.

Known issues as of September 17: a LUA error in the barber chair, the friends list disabled, the minimap drifting off-screen, a Waylaid Crate stacking bug, Legacy panel errors before level 25 and guild charters that cannot collect signatures. Report bugs, do not rage-quit over them.

Does beta or Server Slam progress carry over to launch?

Blizzard has not said anything that suggests it does, and nothing on the published roadmap mentions a carry-over. Treat the beta and the Slam as practice: learn the new dungeon layouts, test Skyborne racials, and decide on your two-part character name. Names are reserved separately during Early Name Reservation, October 27 – November 3, which needs any upgrade pack (Heroic or higher) and allows up to three characters.

If you are short on time once November 4 hits, PewPewShop's vetted human players offer Forever leveling from EUR 13 for 1–30 and a Launch-Ready Pack (1–60, pre-raid gear and 500 gold) from EUR 219 as pre-orders — coaching and play-together formats, no bots, and boosters quote 2–3 weeks for a full 1–60 at launch. Blizzard has said it will be very punishing towards gold buyers, so keep that in mind for anything gold-related.
