In WoW: Forever, bind-on-pickup Uncommon and Rare dungeon drops grant their appearance to every eligible looter in the group the moment the item is looted — not just the player who wins it. Epic raid drops work the old way: only the player the item binds to unlocks the look. Poor and Common items add their appearance on loot without binding at all, and transmog itself is opt-in per player.
WoW: Forever transmog rules at a glance
| Item type | Who unlocks the appearance |
| Bind-on-pickup Uncommon (green) dungeon drop | All eligible looters in the group |
| Bind-on-pickup Rare (blue) dungeon drop | All eligible looters in the group |
| Epic raid drop | Only the player the item binds to |
| Poor / Common item | Whoever loots it, no binding needed |
- Armor type stays strict: plate to plate, cloth to cloth, and so on. A mage cannot wear a plate look.
- Level restrictions on appearances lift at 60. Until the level cap, some looks are gated by level.
- Transmog is applied at a transmogrifier in certain cities, or you can switch it off entirely.
- Classic Mode disables transmog automatically at first launch — your appearances still collect in the background, so nothing is lost.
- Opting out means you see everyone in the gear they actually have equipped.
- Hidden helm and hidden cloak settings are still respected.
- Cosmetic-only items are rare — most looks come from real gear.
"Eligible looter" is Blizzard's own wording. The full definition of who counts as eligible for a given drop has not been published, so treat edge cases (being outside the instance, being dead, loot mode quirks) as unknown until the game ships on November 4, 2026.
Forever Dungeon Run (Any Dungeon)A full clear of any of the nine new Forever dungeons — or a classic one.from 12 EURGet it doneDo I need to win the roll to collect a dungeon appearance in Forever?
No. For green and blue bind-on-pickup dungeon drops, the appearance goes to everyone eligible in the group as soon as the item is looted. The rogue who wins the blue dagger takes the item home; the warrior standing next to them still unlocks the look for their own collection. This is the biggest change from how Modern WoW handles it and it removes most of the reason to fight over transmog rolls in five-man groups.
Forever is also re-examining every dungeon drop, with hundreds of new items and unique dungeon boss items moved up to blue quality. That means the appearance pool from dungeons like Drowned City, Hall of Thanes or Alcaz Prison is bigger than what Classic players remember — though boss lists and loot tables have not been published yet.
How do raid epics work for transmog in WoW: Forever?
Raid epics follow the traditional rule: the appearance is unlocked only for the player the item binds to. If a tier chestpiece drops in Hyjal Summit and you lose the roll, you do not get the look. Raids open December 9, 2026 per Blizzard's roadmap — Barrow Deeps (10-player), Hyjal Summit (20-player) and Onyxia's Lair (40-player) together — so this rule starts mattering about five weeks after launch.
Whether Molten Core, Blackwing Lair or other original raids are available at launch has not been confirmed either way.
Is my Forever appearance collection account-wide?
Collections are account-wide across rulesets — Normal, PvP and Roleplaying — so a look you unlock on one character is available on your others. The one exception is Hardcore: progress flows out of Hardcore into the other rulesets, but nothing flows in. Whether anything carries over from Classic Era, Anniversary or Modern into Forever has not been announced.
Can I turn transmog off if I prefer the Classic look?
Yes, and it is per player. Disable it and every character you see appears in their real equipped gear, regardless of what they have set. If you start in Classic Mode, transmog is off by default and your appearances keep collecting, so you can switch it on later without missing anything.
If you would rather have the dungeon grind handled by someone who has run these places a hundred times, PewPewShop offers Forever dungeon runs with vetted human players — a Drowned City run starts from EUR 16 — plus play-together and coaching options for players who want to clear content and fill their collection without the pug lottery.
