WoW: Forever is Blizzard's official Classic+: the original level-60 game rebuilt with new zones, nine new dungeons, two new raids, a new race and reworked classes, launching November 4, 2026. Classic Era is the untouched vanilla ruleset with no new content. Choose Forever if you want a level-60 Azeroth that keeps growing; choose Classic Era if you want the 2004–2006 game preserved exactly.

What is actually new in Forever

  • Zones: Zephras Isle (Skyborne start, 1–12), the Riverglades (Eastern Kingdoms, 30–45, 150+ quests, new reputations, a neutral goblin port) and Mount Hyjal as an endgame zone. Dire Maul, Maraudon and Razorfen Downs get expanded Shen'dralar content.
  • Dungeons: Dalaran (20–35 city dungeon), Lordaeron, Hall of Thanes, Excavation Site, The Drowned City, Alcaz Island Prison, The Shaper's Terrace, Krol'Dok Stronghold and Blackmaw Hold. Boss lists are not published yet.
  • Raids: Barrow Deeps (10-player, three entrances) and Hyjal Summit (20-player). Per Blizzard's roadmap they unlock December 9, 2026, alongside 40-player Onyxia's Lair.
  • Systems: Camping (shared campsites with tradeskill buffs), Legacy (account-wide perks for alts), updated professions, riding and Honor, a new legendary, gamepad support. Hardcore is coming, rules not yet announced.
  • PvP: the original battlegrounds return, plus The Darkspear Islands, a 15v15 map with capture points.

Is WoW: Forever replacing Classic Era?

Blizzard has not said. Forever is described as a third experience sitting next to Modern and Classic, built by the Classic team. What happens to Classic Era, Anniversary or Season of Discovery realms after November 4 is unknown, so treat any claim about closures or merges as speculation until Blizzard posts it.

Practically, Classic Era today is the fixed vanilla game: the same raids, the same class balance, no new patches. If that stability is the point for you, nothing announced so far changes it.

Do I have to buy WoW: Forever?

No. Forever is included with an active subscription or Game Time; there is no separate game purchase. The optional Skyborne Heroic Pack (€29.99 on the EU Battle.net shop) unlocks the Skyborne race, early name reservation, a ground mount and one invite code. The Epic Pack adds beta access (September 17 – October 21, capped at level 30) and 30 days of game time; the Warcraft Forever Collection adds Warcraft III: Reforged and more, and is sold only until January 11, 2027.

Early name reservation runs October 27 – November 3 for up to three characters with any pack. Invite codes let a friend play November 4–11 without a subscription.

Should I play WoW Forever or Classic Era?

Play Forever if you have already cleared vanilla and want new dungeons, new raids and reworked specs without leaving level 60. Play Classic Era if you want the original class design and are not interested in balance changes, transmog or a new race. If you are unsure, Forever costs nothing extra, and Classic Era is not going anywhere on any published timeline — you can level in one and keep a character parked in the other.

Can I transfer a Classic Era character to Forever?

Nothing about carrying characters, gold or achievements between game versions has been announced. Assume everyone starts fresh on November 4 unless Blizzard states otherwise.

If you would rather skip the 1–60 grind and be raid-ready when Barrow Deeps opens in December, PewPewShop takes Forever pre-orders now: Power Leveling 1–60 from EUR 137.2 (boosters quote 2–3 weeks at launch), dungeon runs such as Dalaran from EUR 16, and raid clears from December 9 — all by vetted human players with a zero-ban record.
