- Forever runs on its own economy. It is a third WoW experience next to Modern and Classic, so nothing from your Classic Era or retail wallet applies here.
- The level cap is 60 permanently, with new content arriving in patches. That keeps gold relevant for a long time — there is no expansion reset around the corner.

What does gold actually buy in WoW: Forever at launch?
The essentials of the original game's first year: bag space, weapon and armor upgrades from the Auction House, profession materials, food and potions, and the riding skill plus a mount. Blizzard says riding has been updated for Forever, but the exact costs have not been published, so treat any mount price you see quoted online as a guess.
Gold also fuels the new systems. Camping lets players build campsites with tradeskill buffs, professions have been reworked, and there is a new legendary questline coming in spring 2027. What those sinks cost is unknown until the servers open, but a cushion of a few thousand gold at 60 has never hurt in a Classic-style economy.

Buy early if your goal is to hit 60 fast, get a mount on the day you can, and be raid-ready for December 9. In the first weeks, a mount, bags and profession leveling eat most of what a fresh character earns, and the gold you did not spend on riding turns into consumables for the first raid lockouts.
Wait if you enjoy the scarcity — for many players the point of a Classic+ launch is the slow first month. There is no wrong answer; the honest trade-off is time versus money, and a launch order simply lets you decide the price now instead of at launch.
