Cooking in WoW Classic is a secondary profession you level from 1 to 300 by cooking looted meat and caught fish next to a fire. Learn it free from a Cooking trainer in any major city, grab a Flint and Tinder to make your own fire anywhere, and cook the highest recipe you can each tier. It costs no primary profession slot, so every character can take it.

How Do You Level Cooking Fast in Classic?
Cook whatever gives orange or yellow skill-ups from your current trainer recipes, using meat and fish you already gather while questing. Kill beasts for raw meat, learn the matching recipe, and cook stacks near a fire. Because ingredients drop constantly as you play, most of Cooking levels itself if you just cook in batches at each town.
Around skill 125-150 head to Gadgetzan in Tanaris. Buy Expert training, then keep going until 225 and turn in the Artisan quest at the same NPC to reach the 300 cap.
Which Cooked Foods Are Worth Making?
The point of high Cooking is Well Fed buffs. Standouts include Nightfin Soup for mana regeneration, Tender Wolf Steak for stamina and spirit, Smoked Desert Dumplings for strength, and Grilled Squid for agility. Raiders and PvPers stack these before fights, which is why cooked food sells well on the auction house.
Is Cooking Worth It in WoW Classic?
Yes for almost every character. It's cheap, it saves gold on vendor food, and the stat-boosting dishes give a real edge in dungeons and raids. Since it's a secondary skill, there's no opportunity cost — you keep both primary professions and still get the buffs.
Do You Need Fishing With Cooking?
You don't need it, but it pairs perfectly. Fishing supplies raw fish for many of the best recipes (Nightfin Soup, Grilled Squid, Filet of Redgill), so leveling the two together keeps ingredient costs near zero.
If you'd rather skip the grind, PewPewShop's vetted pro players can coach you through an efficient 1-300 route or handle the leveling and buff-food farming for you as a play-together boost — a light option when your time is tight.
