Yes — in WoW: Forever, caster weapons grant spell damage and healing, and every item with bonus healing also carries one third as much bonus damage. Blizzard confirmed both points in its itemization recap from the BlizzCon 2026 Deep Dive panel on September 13, 2026. A staff, dagger or wand for a Mage, Warlock, Priest, Druid or Shaman is no longer an empty stat stick.
Caster weapon changes in Forever: quick facts
- Spell damage and healing on weapons: caster weapons now carry it as a normal stat, not a rare exception.
- Bonus healing includes bonus damage: a healer item with +healing gives one third of that number as +damage. Healers can solo quests and swap to damage without a second set of weapons.
- One hit stat: spell hit, melee hit and ranged hit are merged into a single stat, so a caster no longer chases a separate spell-hit pool.
- One crit stat: the three crit chances are merged the same way.
- Dungeon loot re-examined: every dungeon drop was reviewed, unique boss items are now Rare (blue) quality, and hundreds of new drops were added.
- Named caster rewards Blizzard mentioned: the Ladimore Heirloom Ring from Mor'ladim in Duskwood (for casters) and the Master Hunter's Spellsword added to Nesingwary's Stranglethorn quests.
- Not published: exact stat values per weapon, item-level formulas, loot tables and boss lists. Anything with a number attached is guesswork until Blizzard or the beta shows it.
Why does this matter for casters in Forever?
In original vanilla, most weapons below level 60 offered casters Intellect, Spirit or Stamina and nothing that scaled a Frostbolt or Flash Heal. Spell damage lived mostly on endgame raid gear. Forever moves that stat onto weapons across the leveling game, so a caster weapon upgrade actually changes your damage or healing output, the way a new sword changes a Warrior's.
The merged hit and crit stats reinforce that. Gear with hit or crit is useful to every spec, and Dwarf casters get a bonus: the reworked Mace Specialization gives crit chance with all spells and abilities while a mace is equipped. Blizzard also opened Dwarf Shaman as a new combo, so that racial is now a caster consideration.
What are the best healer weapons in WoW: Forever?
Nobody can honestly rank them yet. Loot tables for the nine new dungeons, the two launch raids and the reworked classic dungeons are not published, and beta only runs September 17 to October 21 with a level 30 cap, so endgame weapons will not be seen before launch on November 4, 2026.
What we do know shapes the shopping list: healer weapons carry bonus healing, and that bonus healing now includes a third as much bonus damage. So a healing weapon is never wasted while leveling or on a quiet raid night. Expect Rare-quality blues from dungeon bosses to be the first meaningful caster upgrades on the way to 60.
Does Retribution Paladin count as a caster now?
Partly. Paladin is the only class with published talent details, and Retribution gets Champion of the Light, which converts Intellect into spell damage, plus Instrument of the Law for an instant Holy Wrath. That does not make Ret a caster spec, but it means spell damage from any source, including weapons and the new bonus-damage share on healing gear, feeds a Paladin's Holy damage as well. Other class details have not been released, so there is no confirmed equivalent for Enhancement Shaman or Feral Druid.
How do I stack spell damage while leveling in Forever?
- Prioritize weapons with spell damage or bonus healing over raw Intellect once they appear; the merged hit and crit stats are secondary but never dead weight.
- Run the dungeons in your bracket. Unique boss drops are blue now, and Blizzard says hundreds of drops were reworked or added.
- Pick up the caster-friendly quest rewards Blizzard named: Mor'ladim's Ladimore Heirloom Ring in Duskwood, and the Nesingwary chain in Stranglethorn.
- Use campfires. A Herbalist's Incense Candle placed at a Basic Campfire gives +Intellect and a Tailor's Faction Banner gives +Spirit; they are variants of class buffs and do not stack with them.
