Kurenai (Alliance) and Mag'har (Horde) reputation comes almost entirely from Nagrand: quest out of Telaar or Garadar, then farm Obsidian Warbeads from the zone's ogres and turn them in until Exalted. Both factions are mirror versions of each other. Your side decides which one you can earn, and the biggest prize at the end is the talbuk mounts sold by the quartermaster.

Fastest route to Exalted

  1. Quest through Nagrand first. Pick up everything in Telaar or Garadar and clear the zone. That includes the ogre, Murkblood and Burning Blade chains and the town's kill-quest boards. This is the cheapest rep you'll get, and it also unlocks the warbead turn-in.
  2. Run the Ring of Blood. The arena chain north of the towns gives a solid chunk of rep plus good gear for the level.
  3. Farm Obsidian Warbeads. They drop from ogres in the Warmaul and Boulderfist camps. Turn them in at your faction's town in stacks. This repeatable carries you through Revered and Exalted.
  4. Save beads while you level. Every warbead you loot on the way to 70 is rep you don't have to farm later. Don't vendor them.

Is Kurenai or Mag'har rep worth farming?

For collectors, yes. The talbuk mounts at Exalted are why most players grind it. It's also one of the few Outland factions with a fairly relaxed grind once the questing is done. If you only care about raiding gear, it's low priority. Aldor or Scryers, Cenarion Expedition and the Phase 3 factions will do more for your character.

Can Horde earn Kurenai or Alliance earn Mag'har?

No. Kurenai is Alliance-only and Mag'har is Horde-only. They share the same reward structure, so neither side misses out on talbuks. If you want both, you need a character on each faction.

Do Halaa tokens count as reputation?

No. Halaa, the PvP town in the middle of Nagrand, pays out its own battle tokens and research tokens. Its vendors sell war talbuks and gear, but fighting there does not give Kurenai or Mag'har rep. Many players do both while farming Nagrand, because the ogre camps and Halaa are close together.

Does reputation carry across my account in TBC Anniversary?

Not as far as Blizzard's announcement shows. The Anniversary change it lists is that raid attunements are account-wide, along with Heroic keys sold as Bind-on-Account at Revered. Nagrand faction standing is still earned on each character.
