In TBC Classic you queue for PvP by speaking to a Battlemaster NPC in any capital city or Shattrath, choosing the battleground and clicking Join Battle. Arenas use a separate Arena Battlemaster; skirmishes are open to anyone, while rated arena requires you to be in a team created with a charter. There is no queue button in the interface — you must talk to the NPC or walk to the battleground's entrance in the world.
Quick steps: battleground queue
- Go to your faction's Battlemasters. Horde: Orgrimmar, Undercity, Thunder Bluff, Silvermoon. Alliance: Stormwind, Ironforge, Darnassus, Exodar. Both factions also have them in Shattrath City.
- Each Battlemaster handles one battleground — Warsong Gulch, Arathi Basin, Alterac Valley or Eye of the Storm. Click the one you want.
- Press Join Battle (solo) or Join as Group if the party leader is queuing the whole party.
- Keep playing; when the pop comes, an Enter Battle window appears. Click it before the timer expires or you lose the spot.
- You can hold queues for more than one battleground at the same time — take whichever pops first.
Level requirements and brackets
| Warsong Gulch | Level 10+, 10 vs 10 |
| Arathi Basin | Level 20+, 15 vs 15 |
| Alterac Valley | Level 51+, 40 vs 40 |
| Eye of the Storm | Level 61+, 15 vs 15 |
Below level 70 you are matched in ten-level brackets (for example 60–69), so a fresh 61 will face twinked 69s. At 70 everyone shares the same bracket.
Can I queue from the battleground entrance instead?
Yes. Every battleground has a physical portal in the world: Warsong Gulch on the Ashenvale/Barrens border, Arathi Basin in Arathi Highlands near Refuge Pointe or Hammerfall, Alterac Valley in the Alterac Mountains, and Eye of the Storm in Netherstorm. Walking into the swirling portal opens the same queue window as the NPC. It is handy if you are already out questing nearby, but in practice most players just park in a capital, since the Battlemaster is next to the honor vendors anyway.
How do I queue for arena in TBC Classic?
Find an Arena Battlemaster — they stand near the regular Battlemasters in capitals and in Shattrath, and at the arena sites themselves (Ring of Trials in Nagrand, Circle of Blood in Blade's Edge Mountains). Their dialog offers Skirmish and Rated. Skirmish needs nothing but a partner: form a party of 2, 3 or 5, and the leader queues. Rated arena requires a team. Buy a 2v2, 3v3 or 5v5 charter from an Arena Organizer, get the required number of signatures, register it, and then the team leader queues from the same NPC with teammates who are already on the roster. Rated play is level 70 only, and you need to have played a minimum share of your team's games during the week to collect arena points.
Why can't I see Eye of the Storm at the Battlemaster?
Eye of the Storm only unlocks at level 61, so a character below that simply won't get the option. If you are 61+ and it still isn't offered, double-check you are talking to the correct NPC — each Battlemaster is tied to one battleground, and the EotS one was added later than the original three, so it often stands slightly apart from the group.
Does queuing as a group work in TBC Classic?
Yes, for battlegrounds up to a full 5-player party can queue together through the leader's Join as Group option, and you will land on the same side of the same match. Larger raid groups cannot queue together for random battlegrounds. Arena is always a group queue by design: the party must be exactly the bracket size before the Battlemaster will accept it.
How long does the queue take?
It depends on your faction's population on your realm cluster. Warsong Gulch and Arathi Basin at level 70 usually pop within a few minutes; Alterac Valley can be near-instant for the underpopulated faction and slow for the dominant one. Arena skirmishes fill fast at peak hours and can sit empty late at night. Queuing for two or three battlegrounds at once is the easiest way to keep your wait short.
