Return to Karazhan is split into two Mythic+ dungeons, so "Keystone Hero: Karazhan" is really two achievements — one for Lower Karazhan, one for Upper Karazhan. Each is earned by completing that half at Mythic+10 or higher within the timer, and each grants its own teleport to the dungeon. Both are permanent account progress, but you can only chase them while Karazhan sits in the seasonal Mythic+ pool.

  • Achievement names: Keystone Hero: Lower Karazhan and Keystone Hero: Upper Karazhan — two separate lines in your achievement pane.
  • Requirement: beat the dungeon timer on a keystone of level 10 or above. Mythic 0 runs and untimed "depleted" runs do not count.
  • Reward: a teleport to that half of Karazhan, learned the moment the achievement pops.
  • Deaths: there is no death limit. Each death eats into the clock, so the only thing that matters is crossing the finish line before time runs out.
  • Permanence: Keystone Hero achievements do not reset between seasons. Earn it once and it's yours.
  • Availability: you need an actual Karazhan keystone, which only drops while the dungeon is part of the current Mythic+ rotation.
  • Split: Lower Karazhan runs the early wing (Attumen, the Opera event, Maiden of Virtue, Moroes); Upper Karazhan covers the tower climb up to Viz'aduum the Watcher.

Does a +11 or +12 also count?

Yes. The requirement is a floor, not an exact number — any timed run at key level 10 or higher awards the achievement. Most groups actually find higher keys easier to earn it on, because by then everyone knows the route and the party is over-geared for the mechanics.

The reverse is not true: a +9 will never grant Keystone Hero, no matter how fast you clear it.

Do I have to time both halves separately?

You do. Lower and Upper Karazhan are independent dungeons with independent keystones, independent timers and independent teleports. Timing Lower does nothing for Upper.

Plan for two successful runs. If you're farming, keep an eye on which half your key rerolls into after a completed run — the keystone can send you to either wing or out of Karazhan entirely.

Can I get it if Karazhan isn't in this season's dungeon pool?

No. Keystones only generate for dungeons in the active Mythic+ rotation, so if neither Karazhan half is in the pool right now, the achievement is on hold until it rotates back in. Check the current season's dungeon list in the Group Finder or your Mythic+ UI before you start hunting.

That's also why players who timed the old +20 requirement years ago still have their achievement — the goalposts moved with the key-level squish, but earned achievements were never taken away.

What's the fastest way to actually time it?

Trash routing decides most Karazhan runs. Both halves have generous but tightly packed trash, and pulling the wrong side of a hallway costs more time than a wipe on a boss. Grab a route from a route-planning addon, walk it once on a low key, then push.

Bring a group you've run with before. A coordinated five at +10 beats a stronger pug almost every time, because Karazhan punishes bad pathing more than it punishes low item level.

If Karazhan is in rotation and you keep finishing a minute over, PewPewShop can pair you with vetted human players for play-together runs and route coaching — no bots, no cheats, just a pro on comms fixing your pathing. A Mythic +10 Timed Run starts from EUR 19.98, and a targeted single-dungeon run starts from EUR 20 if you only need the one wing.
