The Skyborne are a brand-new elven race launching with World of Warcraft: Forever on November 4, 2026. They begin on Zephras Isle, a floating island start zone, and they are not a neutral race: at character creation you choose the Windshaper branch (Horde) or the High Order branch (Alliance). All Skyborne can play Warrior, Hunter, Rogue or Druid; Horde Skyborne also get Shaman, Alliance Skyborne also get Mage. Playing one requires the Skyborne Heroic Pack or a higher edition.

Is the Skyborne race Horde or Alliance?

Both, but not at the same time. Unlike the neutral Pandaren of Modern WoW, a Skyborne character locks into a faction the moment you create it. The Windshaper branch fights for the Horde, the High Order branch for the Alliance. That choice also decides your fifth class: Shaman on the Horde side, Mage on the Alliance side.

Practically, this means a Skyborne Shaman and a Skyborne Mage can never be on the same team, and your Zephras Isle experience will lead you toward your faction's capital afterwards. If your guild is settled on one side, check which extra class you want before you click Create.

Which Skyborne class should I pick?

Druid is the obvious showcase: Skyborne druids get their own sky-blue forms, and Forever reworks every class and specialization, so the old Classic druid pain points are being revisited (exact numbers are still unpublished). Hunter and Rogue are the smooth solo levelers, as always in a level-60 game with no scaling. Warrior is the classic tank and gear-hungry DPS pick.

If you want the faction-exclusive flavor, Horde Skyborne Shaman and Alliance Skyborne Mage are the combos nobody could roll on an elf before. Note the two other headline combos in Forever — Forsaken Paladin and Dwarf Shaman — are separate races, not Skyborne options.

Do I have to buy something to play a Skyborne?

Yes. Forever itself is included with a normal WoW subscription or Game Time, but the Skyborne race is tied to the upgrade packs. The Skyborne Heroic Pack (€29.99 in the EU shop) unlocks the race, the Zephras Isle start, Early Name Reservation, the Cerulean Prideclaw ground mount, cosmetics and one Invite-A-Friend launch code.

The Skyborne Epic Pack and the Warcraft Forever Collection include everything in Heroic plus beta access, 30 days of game time from November 4, more cosmetics and three invite codes; the Collection is sold only until January 11, 2027. Any pack lets you reserve up to three character names between October 27 and November 3.

What happens after Zephras Isle?

Zephras Isle covers levels 1–12. From there a Skyborne moves into the regular Forever leveling path of its faction, with the new Riverglades zone waiting at 30–45 in the Eastern Kingdoms and nine new dungeons spread across the level range, including Dalaran (20–35) and the faction-flavored Lordaeron (15–20) and Hall of Thanes (13–18). At 60, Mount Hyjal is the new endgame zone, and the first raids — Barrow Deeps, Hyjal Summit and Onyxia's Lair — unlock together on December 9, 2026 per Blizzard's roadmap.

Expect the launch week to be crowded. There is no level scaling and no flying, so the Zephras Isle quest chain will be busy for the first few days.

If you would rather skip the launch-week queue on Zephras Isle, PewPewShop's vetted human boosters offer Skyborne Start: Zephras Isle 1–12 from EUR 15 and WoW: Forever Power Leveling 1–60 from EUR 25, as pre-orders until November 4, with coaching and play-together options for players who want to learn the new zones alongside a pro.
