Gold Coast Quarry is a kobold-run dig site on the Westfall coastline in WoW Classic, north of Sentinel Hill — a levelling quest area for roughly level 12-16, not a gold farm. The kobold miners there drop copper-tier vendor trash, linen cloth and quest items. If you came looking for a money spot, you want a different zone entirely; the quarry pays in experience.

  • Zone: Westfall, Eastern Kingdoms (Alliance levelling zone).
  • Location: along the northwest coast, reachable by following the road out of Sentinel Hill toward the shore.
  • Level range: roughly 12-16 — trivial past the late teens, so mobs stop giving meaningful XP fast.
  • Inhabitants: kobold miners and diggers, plus the odd Defias presence in the wider zone.
  • Loot: low-value greys, linen, copper-era greens on rare rolls. Silver per hour, not gold.
  • Why people search it: a Westfall quest chain sends you there, and the name sounds far richer than the drops are.

Why isn't Gold Coast Quarry a gold farm?

The "Gold" in the name is geography, not loot. Mobs that con grey to a level 30 character give almost nothing per kill, and their drop table is capped at starter-zone value. You can clear the whole area in minutes and walk away with a few silver.

Low-level areas only become money spots when something specific there sells — a rare pattern, a farmable reagent, a spawn nobody competes for. The quarry has none of those. Its one genuine draw is that it's quiet and safe to quest through.

Where should a solo player actually farm gold in Classic?

Solo income in Classic comes from three places: gathering nodes sold raw on the auction house, cloth and elemental drops from dense humanoid or elemental camps in the level 45+ zones, and old-content clears you outgrow — dungeons you can solo three or four tiers later for cloth, greens and vendor value.

The unglamorous truth is that professions beat mob grinding on most servers. Mining and herbalism turn travel time into money while you're doing something else, and skinning stacks on top of any farm you're already running. Check your own auction house before committing to a route — server economies diverge hard.

Are there Classic farming spots nobody runs anymore?

Yes, and they tend to be the awkward ones: zones with bad flight-path access, camps that need a specific pull angle, or spots whose reagent fell out of fashion for a patch. Anything a popular video covered is contested within a week; anything that takes an extra two minutes to reach usually isn't.

Test any route for a full hour, not ten minutes. Count the raw silver plus what actually sells, and compare it against simply gathering on the same character. Half of the "secret" spots lose that comparison.

Is farming low-level areas ever worth it at max level?

Occasionally — for cloth, for specific low-level reagents that twinks and enchanters buy, and for old recipes that only drop off starter-zone mobs. But that's a targeted trip with a known buyer, not a general income plan. Gold Coast Quarry doesn't make that list.
