| Leveling | Beast Mastery | The pet tanks, and Summon Hawk adds instant damage at the 16-point milestone |
| Dungeons | Marksmanship | Lone Wolf gives 20% more damage with no active pet, and a tank holds the mobs |
| Raids (open December 9) | Marksmanship | Trueshot Aura covers the raid. No raid logs exist yet, so this is about utility, not a damage ranking |
| PvP | Marksmanship, or Survival for dueling | Sniper Shot has 45-yard base range. Strider Kick gives Survival a burst of speed |
- Talents: open at level 10, with milestones at 11, 16, 21 and 31 points.
- Dual spec: available at level 40.
- Respec: at a class trainer in a major city. The price climbs quickly and resets once per week.
- Still missing: Hunters have no stun or interrupt and keep the 8-yard dead zone.
Hourly helpForever Hourly Leveling (per hour)Suits a Hunter player stuck on a slow stretch who wants a vetted pro for a few hours rather than a full 1-60 order.from 12 EURSee options Which spec should a Hunter level with?
Level as Beast Mastery, because the pet takes the hits and you keep shooting from range. A solo player needs roughly 10-15 seconds to kill an ordinary creature in Forever, so a pet that holds attention for that long is worth more than any single talent.
Marksmanship is a fair compromise if you enjoy Aimed Shot, which got about 110% more bonus damage in the launch notes. Keep the pet out while soloing, though, and that means giving up the Lone Wolf bonus. Survival works, but its best tools suit fights at closer range, where a leveling Hunter loses damage.
Talent priorities by level
Prioritize pet survival early, your first milestone next, and a Marksmanship second spec at 40. Beast Mastery changed again in live tuning, so plan the exact order in our WoW: Forever Talent Calculator.
Levels 10-20: what comes first?
Take Beast Mastery talents that keep the pet alive and lift your Aspect. Endurance Training now includes the old Thick Hide, and Deadly Aspects replaces Improved Aspect of the Hawk. Bestial Swiftness is also worth planning for, since Intimidation now requires it.
Levels 20-40: which milestones matter?
Summon Hawk, the 16-point medal, is the main target here. Focused Fire is the other new Beast Mastery talent to read closely. Aimed Shot is baseline at level 20, so you no longer spend talent points to get it.
Forever Profession Leveling 1–300Any primary profession leveled to 300 on your Forever character, materials included.from 49 EURGet it doneLevels 40-60: when does Marksmanship come in?
Add Marksmanship as your second spec at 40 and keep Beast Mastery for questing. The key stops are Lone Wolf at 11 points, Trueshot Aura at 16 and Sniper Shot at 31. Sniper Shot is a 4-second cast on a 15-second cooldown, and it adds 10 yards to your next three Shots. Careful Aim, Rapid Killing, Rapid Recuperation and Barrage, which now also applies to Aimed Shot, round out the tree.
What changed from Classic?
Forever Hunters keep the Classic foundation, but shot cooldowns, traps and pets all work differently.
- Shots: Arcane Shot no longer shares a cooldown with Aimed Shot. Multi-Shot now does.
- Auto Shot: you must stand still for 0.5 seconds before it fires.
- Traps: usable in combat on one shared 30-second cooldown, and still placed only at your feet.
- Pets: they take stats from your gear and no longer benefit from player stat buffs. Foxes are a new family, and each family has one unique ability.
- Smaller changes: Disengage threat reduction doubled, Aspect of the Beast also grants melee Attack Power, and Scorpid Sting lowers the target's chance to hit by 2%.
- Launch tuning: Arcane Shot base damage rose about 30% and Serpent Sting got stronger. Blizzard also raised class damage broadly and gave higher-level creatures more health.
Which race is best for a Hunter?
Orc is our Horde pick and Dwarf is our Alliance pick, though the gaps are small enough that the ruleset and faction your friends use should come first.
| Race | Faction | Useful Hunter bonus |
|---|---|---|
| Orc | Horde | Command: +5% pet damage. Blood Fury on a 2-minute cooldown |
| Troll | Horde | Berserking lasts 15 seconds |
| Tauren | Horde | Endurance: +5% Health |
| Dwarf | Alliance | Artisan's Precision: +1% hit. Big Game Hunter: more damage to Beasts |
| Human (new combo) | Alliance | Ruthless: +1% critical strike chance |
| Night Elf | Alliance | Quickness stacks with other movement speed increases |
| Skyborne | Both | Wind-Blessed: 2% haste. Needs the Skyborne Heroic Pack or higher |
What does a Hunter do in a group?
A Hunter fills a ranged damage slot and brings Trueshot Aura, which now covers the whole raid rather than one party. Blizzard's launch notes also removed Blessing of Salvation, so threat needs more attention than it did in Classic. Feign Death and the stronger Disengage are your tools for that.
Crowd control still matters in Forever dungeons, and your contribution is traps. Without an interrupt or a stun, leave casters to the classes that can stop them.
What are the most common Hunter mistakes?
Most early mistakes come from playing Forever like a Classic Hunter.
- Moving between shots: constant repositioning keeps Auto Shot from firing, so plant your feet for the half-second.
- Keeping the pet out with Lone Wolf: the 20% bonus only applies with no active pet.
- Ignoring your action bars: newly learned spells are no longer added automatically, and a new rank may not replace the old one.
- Stacking buffs for the pet: player stat buffs no longer reach it, so your gear does that work.
- Respeccing on impulse: the cost rises fast, so use the dual spec slot instead.
Boosters quote 2-3 weeks for a full 1-60, so if that is more time than you have, PewPewShop's vetted human players offer rent-a-pro progression help, with full leveling from 990 EUR.
Frequently asked questions
What is the best Hunter spec in WoW: Forever?
Beast Mastery is the strongest recommendation for leveling because the pet holds mobs while you shoot from range. Marksmanship suits dungeons and raids because Trueshot Aura covers the raid and Lone Wolf adds 20% damage with no active pet. These are editorial picks, not Blizzard's, and raid data does not exist until raids open on December 9.
Are Hunters good for leveling in WoW: Forever?
Yes, Hunters level comfortably because a pet can take hits while you deal damage from range. That matters in Forever, where a solo player needs roughly 10-15 seconds to kill an ordinary creature. The weak points remain: no stun, no interrupt and an 8-yard dead zone, so a dead pet quickly becomes a dangerous fight.
What pet should a Hunter use in WoW: Forever?
Pick a pet by its unique ability, because every family now has one. Bears offer Swipe on up to 3 targets, Boars offer Charge, Cats offer Prowl and Wolves offer Furious Howl. Foxes are a new family with Trickster's Dance. Pets draw their stats from your gear, and Tame Beast no longer works on beasts above your level.
What is the best race for a Hunter in WoW: Forever?
Orc is a strong Horde choice because Command adds 5% pet damage. Dwarf is a strong Alliance choice thanks to +1% hit from Artisan's Precision and bonus damage against Beasts. Human Hunters are a new combination and Skyborne can also be Hunters. The differences are small, so choose the ruleset and faction your friends play first.
Can Hunters use traps in combat in WoW: Forever?
Yes, Hunters can place traps during combat in WoW: Forever. All traps share a single 30-second cooldown under Blizzard's launch development notes, replacing the separate Frost and Fire cooldowns from earlier beta testing. Traps are still placed only at the Hunter's own location, so positioning matters before the pull goes wrong.
Do Hunters still have a dead zone in WoW: Forever?
Yes, Hunters keep the 8-yard dead zone in WoW: Forever, and they still cannot stun or interrupt. Use the pet and traps to keep enemies at range. Auto Shot also needs you to stand still for 0.5 seconds before it fires, so constant movement costs damage even when you are outside the dead zone.
