WoW: Forever raids and dungeons have a single difficulty — no Flex, no Heroic or Mythic tiers, and no scaling of any kind. Blizzard confirmed this in the September 17 live Q&A (per Wowhead's recap): every raid tier ships both a 10-player and a 20-player raid, 40-player raids start with Onyxia's Lair but are not in every tier, and the launch raids need no attunement. Because nothing scales, you can genuinely out-gear content.

Quick facts: raid structure in WoW: Forever

40-player raidsStart with Onyxia's Lair; not every tier gets one.
AttunementsNot required for launch raids. Later tiers: unknown.

What "no Flex" means in practice

  • A 10-player raid is tuned for exactly 10. Bringing 8 does not shrink boss health; you just fight it short-handed.
  • A 20-player raid is tuned for 20 — the same logic applies. There is no slider between 10 and 25 or 20 and 30.
  • There is no "same raid, harder version" for extra loot. One clear per boss, one loot table, one difficulty.
  • Gear progression is linear: as your raid collects drops, the same bosses get easier week over week. This is the original design Forever is built around.

Is there a Heroic or Mythic mode in WoW: Forever?

No. Blizzard has been explicit that dungeons and raids are single-difficulty. The "challenge" in Forever comes from the encounter design itself and from your gear level, not from a toggle. Barrow Deeps is described by Blizzard as a "maximum-level 10-player challenge", which suggests the 10-player raid is where the tighter tuning lives — but Blizzard has not published boss lists, loot or exact tuning, so treat specifics as unknown until the raids open.

Do WoW: Forever raids scale with your level or gear?

They do not. Forever has no level scaling in the open world, in dungeons, or in raids. A boss hits for what it hits for, regardless of who walks in. This is the whole point of the "you can out-gear it" comment from the Q&A: a raid that walls your group in December may be a routine weekly clear a few months later once the 20-player drops trickle down. Biome-specific and creature-type item effects (bonus damage against dragons, for example) add another lever that has nothing to do with scaling.

Why does every tier have both a 10-man and a 20-man raid?

Blizzard is designing each content tier around two group sizes so smaller guilds and friend groups always have a raid pitched at them, while larger guilds get a 20-player instance in the same patch. Launch does this with Barrow Deeps (10) and Hyjal Summit (20), and the spring 2027 patch repeats the pattern with a new 10-player and a new 20-player raid. The 40-player format is reserved for select encounters, starting with Onyxia. Note that the 10-player and 20-player raids in a tier are different instances, not one raid at two sizes.

When do WoW: Forever raids actually open?

Forever launches November 4, 2026 at 3 p.m. Pacific, but raids arrive later: per Blizzard's roadmap, Barrow Deeps, Hyjal Summit and Onyxia's Lair unlock together on December 9, 2026. That gives roughly five weeks to reach level 60, run the nine new and returning dungeons, and gear up before the first lockout. Whether Molten Core or other original raids are available at launch has not been confirmed.

If your guild is short on time or bodies for a fixed-size raid, PewPewShop's vetted human raiders can fill the gap: a Barrow Deeps 10-player clear starts from EUR 35, Hyjal Summit from EUR 45, Onyxia's Lair from EUR 25, or the full Forever Raid Bundle from EUR 95 — all bookable as pre-orders ahead of the December 9 unlock, self-play, with no bots and a long zero-ban record.
