In WoW: Forever, Undead racials change in three confirmed ways: Will of the Forsaken still removes Charm, Fear and Sleep effects but no longer grants immunity to them afterward; Cannibalize now restores Mana as well as health; and a new racial, Touch of the Grave, lets your attacks drain life from the target. Blizzard published the mechanics at BlizzCon 2026, not the exact numbers.

  • Every race in Forever has two active and two passive racials, per Blizzard's Deep Dive recap.
  • Forsaken (Undead) Paladin is one of the six new race/class combos, so these racials now matter for a plate-wearing healer and tank, not only for Priests, Rogues, Mages, Warlocks and Warriors.
  • Forever launches November 4, 2026 at 3 p.m. Pacific; the beta (September 17 – October 21) is where the first real numbers will surface.

Is Will of the Forsaken nerfed in WoW: Forever?

Yes, in one specific way. The Classic version broke a Fear, Charm or Sleep and then made you immune to all three for a short window, which is why an Undead Warlock or Rogue could shrug off a Warrior's Intimidating Shout and the follow-up Psychic Scream in the same fight. In Forever the removal still works, but the immunity window is gone. Break the effect, and the next one lands normally.

The cooldown was not published, so nobody can say yet whether the trade-off is softened by a shorter timer. Practically, this narrows the gap between Undead and every other Horde race in PvP, especially against Warlocks and Priests, without turning the racial into a dud: a free trinket effect on top of your actual PvP trinket is still strong.

How does Cannibalize work now that it restores Mana?

Classic Cannibalize was a channel that ate a nearby Humanoid or Undead corpse and healed you over time, which made it a Warrior and Rogue favorite and mostly dead weight for casters. Forever adds Mana to the same channel. That is a quiet but real buff for Undead Priests, Mages, Warlocks and the new Undead Paladin, all of whom spend leveling time sitting to drink between pulls.

Blizzard did not publish how much Mana it returns or how the channel interacts with damage taken. Expect it to shorten downtime on a solo leveling route rather than replace drinking in a dungeon, but treat that as a reasonable reading of the announcement, not a confirmed number.

What is Touch of the Grave?

Touch of the Grave is a brand-new Undead racial in Forever. The only official description is that your attacks can drain life from the target — meaning the racial deals damage and heals you for some part of it when it triggers. Whether it procs from auto-attacks only or from spells too, how often it fires, and how much it heals are all unpublished.

Because every race gets two actives and two passives, and Will of the Forsaken and Cannibalize are the two actives, Touch of the Grave is almost certainly one of the two passives. Which classic passive it displaces, if any, has not been stated; do not assume Underwater Breathing or Shadow Resistance survived until the beta shows the racial panel.

Does Undead Paladin change how these racials feel?

It changes who cares about them. A Forsaken Paladin gets a Fear break without needing the Paladin's own bubble, a Mana-restoring Cannibalize on a class that runs dry constantly in Classic-era content, and a self-healing proc on a melee class that swings a slow weapon in every spec. Combined with the Retribution rework Blizzard described (Vindication, Champion of the Light, Twist of Light), Undead Retribution looks like a legitimately different leveling and PvP experience from Human or Dwarf Paladins. The class still has no interrupt and no slow, so Will of the Forsaken remains your main answer to control effects.
