WoW: Forever goes live November 4, 2026 at 3 p.m. Pacific, and the best first 24 hours follow one rule: quest, don't tinker. Log in on a character you reserved October 27–November 3, clear your starting zone, take two gathering professions, run one new low-level dungeon (Hall of Thanes or Ruins of Lordaeron), and log out in an inn for rested XP.

Launch-day plan, hour by hour

Before 3 p.m. PacificSubscription or Game Time active (Forever is included, no separate purchase). Up to three characters already created during Early Name Reservation if you own any upgrade pack. Full Name picked: Main Name plus Secondary Name, both required. HD/SD graphics toggle set the way you like. Friends invited with Launch Codes (emailed from October 20).
Hours 0–4Start zone. Every quest, every kill. Skyborne begin on Zephras Isle (levels 1–12); everyone else uses the original racial starts. Expect crowded mobs — group up for named kills instead of waiting.
Hours 4–10First trip to the capital: train skills, pick professions, buy bags if you can. Move to your second leveling zone the moment the starter area goes grey.
Hours 10–18First new dungeon: Hall of Thanes beneath Ironforge (13–18, Alliance, Horde can enter) or Ruins of Lordaeron (15–20, Horde, Alliance can enter). Bring a full group — boss lists and loot haven't been published, so nobody knows the fights yet.
Hours 18–24Log out inside an inn. Rested XP is the cheapest speed boost in the game, and the Legacy perk Well Rested makes it better later on.

What to skip on day one

  • The auction house. Prices are chaos in the first day; sell vendor trash and keep every cloth and ore for later.
  • Alt characters. Legacy perks are account-wide, but you earn them by finishing challenges — one main first.
  • Mount Hyjal, the Riverglades (30–45) and Shen'dralar content. All mid-to-endgame; you won't see them for days.
  • Raid planning. Barrow Deeps, Hyjal Summit and Onyxia's Lair open December 9, 2026 per Blizzard's roadmap.

What level should I be after the first day?

Anywhere from the low teens to around 20 if you play a long session, and that's fine. There is no level scaling, the cap is 60 for good, and even boosters quote two to three weeks for a full 1–60 at launch. The first 24 hours are about position and momentum, not the finish line.

One concrete target: hit the entry level for Hall of Thanes (13) or Ruins of Lordaeron (15) before you log off so day two opens with a dungeon.

Should I start as a Skyborne on launch day?

Only if you already own the Skyborne Heroic Pack or higher — the race is locked behind it. Skyborne are not neutral: Windshaper is Horde, High Order is Alliance. Both get Walk on Air (a 10-second downward glide), +1% haste and +5% damage to Elementals; Alliance adds a +100% health/mana regeneration ability, Horde adds +10% run speed. Class options are Warrior, Hunter, Rogue and Druid, plus Shaman on Horde or Mage on Alliance.

The practical upside on day one: Zephras Isle is a fresh 1–12 zone, so it may be the least familiar but also the most crowded start on the map. Read the quest text — nobody has a route memorised yet.

Which professions do I pick in the first 24 hours?

Two gathering skills. Mining, Herbalism or Skinning cost nothing to train, pay for your bags and your first riding skill, and feed whatever crafting you switch to later. Tauren have an extra angle: their reworked Cultivation racial grows bonus herbs without Herbalism at all.

Hold off on crafting professions until you have a gold buffer. Legacy perks like Working Overtime (+4% skill-up chance per rank) reward professions, but only once you've banked Legacy points.

Can I PvP or raid on launch day?

No raids — they unlock December 9. Battlegrounds do return, including the new 15v15 Darkspear Islands, but at level 10–20 you'll get more from questing than from queueing. The Honor system has changed and the numbers aren't public, so treat early PvP as fun, not progression.

Same story for Hardcore: Blizzard says it's coming to Forever, but the rules weren't published at BlizzCon.

If you'd rather spend launch week at 60 than in Elwynn, PewPewShop takes Forever pre-orders until November 4 from vetted human players — no bots, no cheats: Forever Leveling 1–30 from EUR 13, or the Launch-Ready Pack (1–60, pre-raid gear and 500g) from EUR 219, with coaching and play-together options if you want to level alongside a pro.
