Hunter is a launch class in WoW: Forever, playable by every original race that had it plus the new Skyborne race on both factions. Blizzard says every class and specialization has been revamped, but hunter-specific ability changes have not been published yet. Forever launches November 4, 2026, with a level cap of 60, and the beta runs September 17 to October 21.

Hunter in Forever: quick facts

  • Confirmed: Hunter is one of the four classes every Skyborne can play (Warrior, Hunter, Rogue, Druid), on both Windshaper (Horde) and High Order (Alliance) sides.
  • Revamp: Blizzard states all classes and specs are reworked and that talents move away from +1–2% filler nodes. No hunter talent tree, pet changes or ability list has been shown.
  • Cap: level 60 for good — Forever adds content in patches, not expansions.
  • Talents earlier: the Legacy perk Talented lets you start earning talent points at level 9 (still 51 max), account-wide once unlocked.
  • Hunter flavour: the physical Collector's Edition statue is the Dwarf Hunter and bear from the original cinematic, and one Legacy cosmetic is a Replica Ironforge Air Rifle.
  • Not confirmed: pet families, ammo, quiver changes, aspect rework, dead zone, spec identity — all UNKNOWN at announcement.

Skyborne hunter: what the racials do

The Skyborne are a new elven race from Zephras Isle, a floating 1–12 starting island. They are not neutral: you pick Windshaper (Horde) or High Order (Alliance) at creation. Playing the race requires the Skyborne Heroic Pack or higher.

RacialEffectWho gets it
Walk on AirGlide downward for 10 secondsBoth variants
Wind Blessed+1% hasteBoth variants
Elemental Insight+5% damage to ElementalsBoth variants
Skysight+10% run speedWindshaper (Horde)
Read Ley Line+100% health and mana regenerationHigh Order (Alliance)

For a hunter, Wind Blessed is a small but permanent throughput bonus and Skysight is a genuine kiting and travel perk on the Horde side. Whether either edges out existing racials in real numbers is unknown until the revamped class goes live.

Is the hunter revamped in WoW: Forever?

Yes, in the sense that Blizzard has said every class and specialization is being revamped and talent trees are losing their small passive filler. What that means for Beast Mastery, Marksmanship and Survival specifically has not been shown. Treat any detailed "Forever hunter changes" list you see right now as speculation unless it comes from a Blizzard post or beta datamining after September 17.

Which races can be a hunter in Forever?

Every race that could be a hunter in original WoW keeps the option, and the Skyborne join them on both factions. Forever also adds two new combos that are not hunters — Forsaken Paladin and Dwarf Shaman — and tweaks some existing racials: Orc Axe Specialization now grants critical chance, Gnome Expansive Mind raises maximum resource, Tauren Cultivation grows bonus herbs without Herbalism.

Where does a hunter level in WoW: Forever?

Skyborne hunters start on Zephras Isle (1–12), everyone else in their classic starting zone. Mid-game there is the Riverglades, a new Eastern Kingdoms zone for roughly 30–45 with 150+ quests and new reputations. Nine new dungeons are spread across the curve — Hall of Thanes and Ruins of Lordaeron at the low end, City of Dalaran in the 20–35 band, and Alcaz Prison, Shaper's Terrace and Krol'dok Stronghold for 40–60. Endgame opens with Mount Hyjal, and the first raids (Barrow Deeps, Hyjal Summit, Onyxia's Lair) unlock December 9, 2026 per the roadmap.

Can I try the hunter in the Forever beta?

Yes, if you own the Skyborne Epic Pack or the Warcraft Forever Collection. The beta runs September 17 to October 21, 2026, capped at level 30 — enough to see the early hunter kit and the new Skyborne start, not the endgame. Early name reservation follows October 27 to November 3 with any upgrade pack, up to three characters.

If you would rather have a vetted human player handle the grind while you focus on endgame, PewPewShop takes Forever pre-orders now: Skyborne Start on Zephras Isle 1–12 from EUR 15, a full 1–60 Power Leveling run from EUR 25 (boosters quote 2–3 weeks at launch), and Riding Skill & Mount from EUR 29. Coaching and play-together options are available for players who want to learn the revamped hunter with a pro, no bots, no cheats.
