The Drowned City is a brand-new dungeon in World of Warcraft: Forever — a sunken troll ruin off the coast of Stranglethorn Vale — and it goes live with the rest of Forever on November 4, 2026. It is one of nine dungeons built for the launch. Blizzard has confirmed where it sits and what it is, but has not published its level range, boss roster or loot table yet.

A few things worth knowing before you plan around it. Forever is a third WoW experience beside Modern and Classic, built by the Classic team and set in the game's first year. The level cap stays at 60 permanently, so a Stranglethorn-adjacent dungeon will not be outgrown by an expansion. Expect no level scaling and no flying — you sail or ride there like it is 2004, just with new content on the map.

Since beta caps characters at level 30, whether testers can see the Drowned City depends on its still-unannounced level range. If it lands in the 30s or above, the first real look will come at launch.

Where is the Drowned City?

Off Stranglethorn Vale, the jungle zone on the southern tip of the Eastern Kingdoms. Blizzard describes it as a troll ruin that has gone under the waves, which fits the region: Stranglethorn is Gurubashi troll territory, and Zul'Gurub sits in the same jungle. The exact entrance coordinates have not been released, and we are not going to guess them.

Getting to Stranglethorn itself is the same as always — Horde ride down from Grom'gol, Alliance come south through Duskwood, and both factions can use Booty Bay as a hub.

What level is the Drowned City?

Unknown for now. Blizzard has given ranges for some of the new dungeons — Hall of Thanes 13–18, Lordaeron 15–20, Dalaran 20–35, and Alcaz Island Prison, The Shaper's Terrace and Krol'Dok Stronghold at 40–60 — but the Drowned City, Excavation Site and Blackmaw Hold shipped without a published range. Given that Stranglethorn Vale has always been a mid-level zone, a mid-level bracket seems plausible, but treat that as a guess until Blizzard confirms it.

Is the Drowned City in Classic Era or Season of Discovery?

No. It exists only in World of Warcraft: Forever. Classic Era, Anniversary and Season of Discovery realms keep the original dungeon list. What happens to those realms after Forever launches has not been announced.

What are the other new Forever dungeons?

Nine in total: Dalaran (a city dungeon, 20–35), Lordaeron (15–20, Horde-flavoured, Alliance can enter), Hall of Thanes (13–18, Alliance-flavoured, Horde can enter), Excavation Site in the Wetlands, The Drowned City, Alcaz Island Prison, The Shaper's Terrace, Krol'Dok Stronghold (the last three at 40–60), and Blackmaw Hold, a furbolg city. Two raids — Barrow Deeps (10-player) and Hyjal Summit (20-player) — unlock on December 9, 2026, per Blizzard's roadmap.
