WoW: Forever keeps the original Azeroth at full difficulty on paper: the level cap is locked at 60 forever, there is no level scaling and no flying, so a level-30 zone still hits like a level-30 zone. Whether revamped classes, account-wide Legacy perks and new dungeon loot make old raids and dungeons feel easy is not something Blizzard has confirmed yet.
What is confirmed about difficulty in Forever
- No level scaling. Mobs and zones keep fixed levels. Outlevel a zone and you flatten it, exactly like the original game and Classic.
- No flying mounts. Travel and world danger stay ground-bound.
- Endless level 60. New content ships in patches, not expansions, so a future patch will not push the cap to 70 and retire today's endgame.
- All classes and specs revamped. Paladins get a tanking seal and a full Retribution kit; talents move away from +1–2% filler picks. Power levels relative to old bosses are unpublished.
- Legacy perks are non-combat. Rested XP, skill-up chance, reputation gain, durability loss and Honor gain. Nothing in the shown tree adds raw damage or healing.
- Talented perk: talent points start at level 9 instead of 10, but the total stays 51.
- Every classic dungeon returns alongside nine new ones; the Spelunker achievements at BlizzCon list Blackrock Depths, Scholomance, Stratholme, Dire Maul and the rest in the Master tier.
- Raids open December 9, 2026: Barrow Deeps (10-player), Hyjal Summit (20-player) and 40-player Onyxia's Lair. Whether Molten Core and later original raids are in at launch is unknown.
Will Classic dungeons be too easy with the new classes?
Nobody outside Blizzard can answer that honestly yet, because tuning numbers were not part of the September 12 reveal. The fair comparison is Classic 2019: the same fixed-level dungeons became routine once players knew the routes and stacked consumables, and the game was still fun. Forever adds unknown new item tables from nine dungeons and two raids, so gear inflation is possible. Watch the beta (September 17 – October 21, capped at level 30) and the Q&A on September 17 for the first real read on dungeon pacing.
Does no scaling mean old zones become pointless?
Old zones stay relevant the way they always have: as the only path to 60. The Riverglades (30–45) sits next to Stranglethorn, Arathi and the Hinterlands rather than replacing them, and the Legacy system rewards Exploring, Leveling Classes and Maximizing Reputations across the whole world. Outleveled content is trivial in combat but still counts toward Legacy points, which is a deliberate design.
Is Classic Plus going to be harder than Classic?
Blizzard has not made a harder-or-easier claim. What is confirmed: Hardcore is coming to Forever (rules unpublished), the Honor system is changed, and Barrow Deeps is billed as a maximum-level 10-player challenge, which is Blizzard's phrasing for a raid built as a challenge rather than a warm-up. The Spring 2027 roadmap adds two more raids, and Summer 2027 brings a revamped iconic raid, so the difficulty curve will be set by new content more than by old.
Will Forever balance change my Classic class?
Yes, every class and spec was revamped, so a Classic-era build guide will not carry over directly. The roster is unchanged: nine original classes plus new Forsaken Paladin and Dwarf Shaman combinations and the Skyborne race. Blizzard said nothing is off the table for future classes, but none is announced.
