Spelunker is a three-tier dungeon achievement line seen at the WoW: Forever demo at BlizzCon on September 12, 2026: Novice Spelunker (low-level dungeons), Experienced Spelunker (mid-level dungeons) and Master Spelunker (every high-level dungeon from Razorfen Downs to Blackmaw Hold). Together the three tiers cover every original Classic dungeon plus the nine new Forever dungeons, so finishing the line means clearing the entire dungeon roster at least once.
The three Spelunker tiers as photographed at the demo
Wowhead photographed the achievement panel on the show floor. Blizzard has not published these as official level brackets, so treat the grouping as a hint at where each dungeon sits, not a locked ruleset.
| Tier | Dungeons listed |
| Novice Spelunker | Ragefire Chasm or Hall of Thanes, Rath'mael, Wailing Caverns, The Deadmines, Shadowfang Keep, Excavation Site: Wetlands |
| Experienced Spelunker | City of Dalaran, Blackfathom Deeps, Gnomeregan, The Drowned City, Scarlet Monastery (all four wings), Razorfen Kraul, Krol'dok Stronghold |
| Master Spelunker | Razorfen Downs, Zul'Farrak, Alcaz Prison, Blackrock Depths, Lower and Upper Blackrock Spire, Scholomance, Stratholme (Live and Dead), Dire Maul (North, East, West), The Shaper's Terrace, Uldaman, Maraudon, The Temple of Atal'Hakkar, Blackmaw Hold |
- The "Ragefire Chasm or Hall of Thanes" wording on the Novice tier suggests a faction-flexible starter slot — Hall of Thanes sits beneath Ironforge (13–18, Alliance-leaning), Ragefire Chasm is the Horde starter.
- "Rath'mael" appears on the Novice list but has not been explained by Blizzard. What it is remains unknown.
- Krol'dok Stronghold is grouped with the mid-level dungeons even though Blizzard's panel recap places it with the 40–60 trio (Alcaz Prison, Shaper's Terrace, Krol'dok). Expect the level ranges to be tuned before launch on November 4, 2026.
- Boss lists, loot tables and the exact completion condition (kill final boss vs. full clear) have not been published.
Are Spelunker achievements part of the Legacy system?
Not confirmed. Forever's Legacy system awards one Legacy point per completed Legacy Challenge across six categories, and one of those categories is "Completing Dungeons and Raids". It would be natural for the Spelunker tiers to feed into that, but the demo did not show the link, so treat that as a reasonable guess rather than fact. Legacy points are spent on account-wide, non-combat perks (rested XP, cheaper repairs, faster reputation) and total points unlock cosmetics like the Spectral Bear mount.
Which are the nine new Forever dungeons?
Hall of Thanes (beneath Ironforge, 13–18), Ruins of Lordaeron (15–20), City of Dalaran (20–35), the Excavation Site above Whelgar's dig in the Wetlands, Drowned City (a troll ruin off Stranglethorn Vale), Blackmaw Hold (a furbolg city), and three 40–60 dungeons: Alcaz Prison, Shaper's Terrace and Krol'dok Stronghold. Note that Ruins of Lordaeron does not appear on any photographed Spelunker tier — either the panel was cropped or it is tracked elsewhere. Unknown for now.
Can you earn Master Spelunker in the beta?
No. The beta runs September 17 – October 21, 2026 and caps characters at level 30, which rules out every Master-tier dungeon and most of the Experienced tier. You could realistically test the Novice list and the early Experienced dungeons. Beta access comes with the Skyborne Epic Pack or the Warcraft Forever Collection.
Do dungeon achievements carry over from Classic Era or Anniversary realms?
Blizzard has said nothing about anything transferring between game versions, and Forever is a separate experience next to Modern and Classic. Plan on starting the Spelunker line from zero on November 4 (early name reservation opens October 27 with any upgrade pack).
Fastest realistic path to Master Spelunker
- Level naturally through the Novice tier — those dungeons line up with the 13–25 questing zones anyway.
- Knock out Scarlet Monastery's four wings and City of Dalaran in one session; they are the densest block on the Experienced tier.
- Hit 60 first, then sweep the Master tier. Blackrock Depths, both Spire halves, Dire Maul's three wings and the two Stratholme routes eat the most hours; the three new 40–60 dungeons are unknown quantities until launch.
If you would rather not wrangle pugs through 30-plus dungeons, PewPewShop's vetted human players can run any Forever dungeon with you from EUR 12 per run (Forever Dungeon Run, any dungeon), with Blackmaw Hold, Alcaz Prison and Shaper's Terrace from EUR 22 — or take a Forever Pre-Raid Gearing package from EUR 59 that clears the Master-tier list as a side effect. Self-Play, no bots, no cheats.
