WoW: Forever changes four racials so far: Tauren Cultivation now grows bonus herbs without needing Herbalism, Orc Axe Specialization grants critical strike chance, Gnome Expansive Mind raises your maximum resource, and Gnomes gain a brand-new racial, Eureka!, that makes your next three spells cheaper and 10% stronger. The new Skyborne race adds five racials of its own. Everything else about the original racial kits has not been detailed by Blizzard yet.

Confirmed racial changes in WoW: Forever

RaceRacialWhat changed

OrcAxe SpecializationNow gives critical strike chance rather than the old weapon-skill bonus
GnomeExpansive MindNow raises your maximum resource pool (mana, energy, rage) instead of a flat intellect boost
GnomeEureka! (new)Your next 3 spells cost less and deal or heal 10% more
Skyborne (both factions)Walk on Air, Wind Blessed, Elemental InsightGlide downward for 10 seconds; +1% haste; +5% damage to Elementals
Skyborne High Order (Alliance)Read Ley Line+100% health and mana regeneration
Skyborne Windshaper (Horde)Skysight+10% run speed

These are the only racial changes Blizzard and Wowhead have shown from BlizzCon 2026 (September 12). Forever launches November 4, 2026, with a level cap that stays at 60 for good, so racials matter more than usual — you will be living with the same character for years, not one expansion.

Why does Orc Axe Specialization give crit now?

In the original game, Axe Specialization added +5 weapon skill with axes. That bonus was strong because of how weapon skill interacted with glancing blows and hit at level 60, but it was invisible to most players and pushed every Orc melee into axes regardless of what dropped. Forever swaps it for critical strike chance, which is easy to read on your character sheet and works with the class revamp, where all specs are getting rebuilt talents. The exact crit percentage has not been published, so treat any number you see as speculation.

What does the Gnome Eureka! racial actually do?

Eureka! is a new active ability: when you press it, your next three spells cost less and hit or heal for 10% more. It is a burst button for Gnome Mages, Warlocks and, with the new combos, anyone else casting on a Gnome. Cooldown and exact cost reduction are unknown. Combined with the reworked Expansive Mind (bigger maximum resource instead of flat intellect), Gnomes look like the strongest caster pick on the Alliance side for raw throughput — the Skyborne High Order regeneration racial is the main competitor.

Does Tauren Cultivation work without Herbalism?

Yes — that is the whole point of the change. In the original game, Cultivation just gave Tauren +15 Herbalism skill, useless to anyone who did not take the profession. In Forever, Cultivation grows bonus herbs for the Tauren regardless of professions, so a Tauren Warrior or Druid picks up extra herbs during normal questing and can sell or trade them. How often the bonus herbs appear and what tiers of herbs are eligible has not been shown.

Are the other Classic racials unchanged?

Unknown. Blizzard has only highlighted the Tauren, Orc and Gnome changes plus the new Skyborne kit. Human, Dwarf, Night Elf, Troll and Undead racials were not covered in the announcement, and the beta (September 17 – October 21, capped at level 30) is where the full list will be datamined. New race-class combinations — Forsaken Paladin and Dwarf Shaman — are confirmed, so racial value for those classes will get a lot of scrutiny once the numbers are live.

If you would rather skip the early grind and focus on testing racials at 60, PewPewShop offers WoW: Forever power leveling 1–60 from EUR 25 with a vetted human player alongside you, plus Forsaken Paladin and Dwarf Shaman leveling from EUR 25 as pre-orders until launch day.
