WoW: Forever "Talented" Legacy Perk: Talent Points From Level 9

Talented is a Legacy perk in World of Warcraft: Forever that lets your characters start earning talent points at level 9 instead of level 10. It does not add extra points: the cap stays at 51 talent points at level 60. Legacy perks are account-wide and bought with Legacy points, which you earn by completing Legacy Challenges across your account.

Quick facts: the Talented perk

The practical effect is modest: your first talent point arrives one level earlier on every alt you roll. On a fresh character that means you pick your first talent while still in the starting zone, which shapes how your early rotation feels before the first dungeon. The 51-point total at 60 is unchanged, so nobody gets a stronger endgame build out of it — it is a leveling convenience, not a power bump.

How Legacy points work

1. Complete a Legacy Challenge. There are six categories: Exploring, Leveling Classes, Increasing Tradeskills, Earning PvP Ranks, Maximizing Reputations, and Completing Dungeons and Raids.
2. Each completed challenge grants one Legacy point.
3. Spend points in a talent-style tree of account-wide perks split into three branches: Professions, Adventure, and Resourcefulness.
4. Your total points also unlock cosmetic rewards: the Replica Ironforge Air Rifle, a Spectral Bear Cub pet, a Spectral Bear tabard, and the Reins of the Spectral Bear mount.

Why does it still say 51 talent points?

Because Forever keeps the original level cap of 60 permanently, and Blizzard has stated it will stay there with content arriving in patches rather than expansions. Talented moves the starting level for talents forward by one, but every character still finishes at 51 points. Anyone selling you a build with more than 51 points is talking about a different game.

One thing worth knowing: all classes and specializations have been revamped for Forever, and the design goal is to move talents away from the old +1–2% filler rows. So while the point count matches Classic, the trees you spend them in will not be identical.

What other Legacy perks were shown alongside Talented?

From the same demo build: Well Rested (+4% rested XP per rank) sits next to Talented in the Adventure branch. Professions offers Working Overtime (+4% skill-up chance per rank) and Dedicated Study on a 23-hour cooldown. Resourcefulness has Reinforce (−6% durability loss per rank), Diplomat (+2% reputation per rank), and For Great Honor (+2% Honor per rank).

How many ranks each perk has, and how many total points the tree can hold, was not shown. Treat those numbers as unknown until launch.

Is Talented worth spending a Legacy point on?

If you plan to level several characters, yes — it is one of the few perks that pays out on every single alt from the start, and Legacy is explicitly built to reward leveling more characters. If you intend to main one character and never roll another, Well Rested or a Resourcefulness perk will likely do more for you over the long run. Since Legacy points come from challenges rather than gold, the only cost is choosing which perk to grab first.

When can I actually use this?

World of Warcraft: Forever launches November 4, 2026 at 3 p.m. Pacific, included with an active WoW subscription. The beta runs September 17 – October 21 with play capped at level 30, which means beta testers will be able to see the level-9 talent point in action but not the full 51-point picture. Whether Legacy perks are fully live in beta has not been confirmed.
